The Prince of Loreos instructed Mark of Falworth to take a strong body of troops to the south of the terrible Magic Island, and there besiege a certain fortress of great strength and evil reputation...
After a brief barrage of artillery both sides quickly realized that the walls and towers were much too strong for the small amount of catapults that the crusaders had brought overseas.
So, after a fortnight's labor, the besieging army constructed movable towers and ladders to scale the walls of the castle.
The well-trained, iron-clad knights of Loreos fearlessly charged towards the enemy walls! Arrows, war-cries, and screams filled the air as the ladders were thrown in place. Meanwhile, the great siege towers rumbled their way forward. The defenders' arrows and javelins were useless against such machinery. Just as the siege tower bridge slammed onto the parapet, and the victory of the crusaders seemed certain, lo and behold, a mighty dragon swooped in and crashed onto the wall. It spewed a searing hot stream of flame right into the astonished knights! Taken by surprise, the knights nevertheless dauntlessly resumed their charge, straight towards the ferocious beast!
In this siege of Lost Souls, who shall prevail?
This was so fun to make! I haven't built a big siege in a while, and the GC3 gave me the perfect opportunity. :D
I uploaded many different angles and shots so be sure to check em all out. ;)
I think I commented on this over in the Flckr realm of the internet, but just in case I didn't...epic work Mark! I particularly like how you show the inside of the wall on each end and the damaged areas, presumably from catapults. Great job with every little detail, as usual! :)
Quite the scene you have constructed! I love all of the small details you've added, like the cross-section of the wall, and the partly-smashed parts from the catapults. Brilliant dragon! As usual, your landscape is fantastic too. The sense of action really makes it all come together! I especially like the Areani at the base ;) Great job!
Of course Yursuff makes it out, who would kill a poor camel dealer when an epic battle is waging around him and he's just standing there smiling? I know I wouldn't. ;)
Brilliant build Mark. The artistic shots really seals the deal.
You, sir, are a genius among castle builders. Your builds are always fantastic and amazing and are filled with so many intricate details and subtle techniques that I am always finding new details in all of your builds (even when I view them again and again). Your incorporation of so many colors and styles gives your builds a very unique and distinguished look.
