The first Collapse Rescue truck to be put in service
About this creation
Collapse Rescue Team Back In 2004:
Current Collapse Rescue Team (2013):
On February 16, 1994, the Lakeshore Fire Department had established a new Special Operations company called CRT (Collapse Rescue Team). The truck in the picture was the first Collapse Rescue truck to be put in service (1994 Freightliner/Hackney). When Collapse Rescue 1 was put in service at Station 1 the company was short-staffed, so the company was cross-staffed with Aerial Ladder 1 (Tower Ladder 1 used to be Aerial 1 back in the 1990's). A few weeks later more fire recruits from the Fire Academy was staffed on Collapse Rescue 1 until 2004 when the fire fighters outgrew the truck. At the time the Fire Department didn't have enough money to get a new rescue, so Fleet Management converted a 1996 Seagrave ladder truck into a "rescue" truck. Collapse Rescue 1 moved from Station 1 to Station 8 in 2006. There are currently 4 Collapse Rescue Teams in service to this day. Old Collapse Rescue 1 is now the Fire Department's Reserve Equipment Truck.
