So much like I did a preview of my first ever combiner - G1 Menasor, I'm doing a preview of what might be my last combiner. I'll give details about this a bit later. Anywho, this is Rail Racer, the combined form of Team Bullet Train from Transformers - Robots in Disguise, known as Transformers Car Robots in Japan, where this guy's name was JRX. When you see SOLID RED bricks - it means that section is WIP(Work in Progress). Enjoy this preview!
About this creation
So here we have a somewhat front/side view of this incomplete Rail Racer, formed from Railspike (J-five), a proxied (Solid Red bricked) Rapid Run (J-seven), and Midnight Express (J-four). Rail Racer is my absolute favorite transformer combiner (even over Menasor), so I knew at some point I would be building him - now is that time.
Back view of Rail Racer. I should note that Railspike and Midnight Express can currently form all 3 of their modes - Robot/Vehicle/Combiner piece. The reason Midnight Express' back left wheel section is also SOLID RED is because I'm working out a few kinks with that area. otherwise both Railspike and Midnight Express are ready to go - sans weapons.
Top view of Rail Racer. As you can see Railspike has a crease down the center of the front of him - which is actually what is preventing him from properly linking up to the Proxy Rapid Run. Along with Midnight Express' foot - I'm trying many ways to fix this - but this one may have to stay this way - and I'll have to work something out with Rapid Run to make this work.
Midnight Express and Railspike in their Train modes. Midnight Express definitely came out smoother in this mode - but I did what I had to with Railspike to make his transformation work. But then again - only reason Midnight Express came out so smooth is because 80% of his body makes up his legs.
I'll be finishing this creation once I actually have a Rapid Run figure in hand to use for reference, as his role in the combination is truthfully the most vital - and this way I'll have an actual complete Rail Racer toy as well as a Lego one! The weapons will come last - as they are also part of a Gimick - where the weapons all had a "trailer" hitch on them that when plugged into the train modes allowed you to line the trains up in a row - all connected. Its a silly gimmick honestly but if I can do it I will - just to make them that much more accurate - as again this guy is my favorite transformer combiner. Hope you enjoyed this preview!
