Crank mechanism
Whether you turn the input axis clockwise or counterclockwise the output axis turns clockwise :)
About this creation
As I found this creation yesterday I felt like rebuilding it because it looks very clumsy and I like building things as space saving as possible.

I will try to explain how it works:

Each of the two differential gears is blocked in one direction so that they can not both turn at the same time. The blocked one will lead the rotation through the inner gears which reverses its direction. Eventually you get an axis which always will turn clockwise/counterclockwise, no matter how you turn the input axis.

If you do not understand this you will have to build it yourself to see how it works(if you can not clearly discover how to build it, look at the instructions). Or you could look at the original one which is way better documented.

This is the digital one. For clarification: The three bigger gears are the input, the four smaller ones (from which you can see only one) the output ;)

Here is a picture of the real thing which consumed both my differentials and most of my few gears(could not find any yellow bricks with holes).

Nice work - I never really considered trying to make mine simpler or more compact, you've done a great job :D

I just made one and it works! It's amazing! I usually understand how things like this works, but this baffles me. Any way, great build, here!

Very good. I would like to make this for a class project. Could you send me instructions, better/more pics, parts list, or anything more? Thanks, and great building!
