This is my first new MOC after 3 years of having all my brick stored away. It's the Queen Elizabeth Class Battleship HMS WARSPITE in 1:140 scale. I built it with Power Functions remote control main guns with independent elevation and rotation. The colour scheme is the one she wore during the second half of WWII.
There's something folded up in the hanger...
...it's a Supermarine Walrus spotter plane.
Built for the First World War and modernized for WW2, WARSPITE was a fighting workhorse of the British Royal Navy.
Length: 164 studs.
Width: 26 studs.
Final parts count: 9,112.
She's absolutely beautiful. Love the full-hull treatment with excellent rendition of the torpedo bulges. Great dazzle camo. I really like the AA and all the other detail, including the rigging, portholes, casemates... I could go on. As a young lad I made the same ship in the same scale - nothing like as good as this though, not even close.
I would pay out the nose for a kit of this, one of my favourite battleship designs re-created very well!!
I believe it may be a Supermarine SeaOtter rather than a Walrus but that's a labelling thing rather than anything to do with the model.
Seriously one of my fav lego designs ever very very well done<3
I love the clean lines and curves of this big ship, plus how you've made the bulges on the sides without any big gaps. As a fan of aeroplanes, the little Walrus is a superb detail and very recognisable too.
"All hands, brace for cast off!" I love a good ship. This is brilliant. Have you though about building the Torpedo Ram HMS Thunder Child, from The War of the Worlds, or the HMS Polyphemus, from which Thunder Child was based?
This is incredible. It looks stunningly realistic, and I'd never have guessed that the turrets move! One of the best ships on MOCpages. 10/10. P.S Saw it on http://www.thelegocarblog.wordpress.com
today in case you've not yet seen it. Congrats!
Superb work as always. I was going to build the warspite in large scale with rc guns but I ran out of parts. Have you mixed the ww1 and ww2 versions? Because I thought they removed the side guns in the thirties and changes the hull accordingly.
