The one category I wanted to, but didn't get a chance to build for in the MocAthalon was the reworking of a classic set. Here is what I would have done - a remake of the classic set 6628 (see final picture for reference).

I had this set as a child and I remember being annoyed that it never came with a mini figure. Glad to see that your one does. Your reworking is superb. Looks great in six wide. The technic pieces look good. I also really like the rear lights and front grill. Top work!
Had a feeling this would be the one you liked! |

Another set that I would like to have owned as a child. I agree with other comments that the Technic parts on the crane work really well. |

Like Barto stated... the technic pieces were a 'good call', especially for a tow truck! :) |

If nothing else, although this isn't the case, it's nice to be reminded of where some bits that I occasionally see originally came from. This version looks like it could actually tow something. |

I'll be honest, I prefer the Classic 4-wide charm of the original. Yours does have some more details and functionality going for it, though. |

Cool. I think it's got just enough bulk now to actually be a tow truck. I'm actually hosting a in The Contest Group with the theme of Post-MocAthalon for people to at least have the glory of showing off their ideas for categories from the MocAthalon if they couldn't use them for a multitude of reasons. I wish I could have gotten my original redesign to actually work. Trying to redesign 10123 Cloud City was too ambitious; at least for now. I ran out of peices fairly early just for one of a great deal of sections I would have had to build. |

6 wide seemed right for a truck. |

Cute little upgrade! I don't remember that set and did't see it in any of my old catalogs from '82 on. I don't believe that Lego sold that one here in the States. Weird. I would have bought this one easily with my "pocket change", especially your version. ;)
It's actually from 1981 ( http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=6628-1). This set for some reason really stuck in my memory. I remember getting it as a small present one summer holiday and learning how to make it from memory. It was odd in that it came without a mini-fig, when it was clearly designed for one. |

Very cool. You captured the feel of the original set, whilst creating something new.
Thanks, that's the real challenge with these remakes. |

Thanks, I love the simplicity of some of these early sets. |
