You've been assigned to illustrate one of your favorite books, show us in the brick one of the illustrations. This should not be based on an existing picture, but your own interpretation of a scene. The more of an artistic flair you give your build, the higher your score will be.
Well, this was my first attempt at a story tower, and I must say, they are quite fun to build! Getting the techniques to make the tower look good and support the levels above it was a terrific challenge! :D Each level is one of my favorite scenes from the Battle of Helm's Deep.
The last three pictures were a bit rushed, as I forgot to include the characters.
Besides that, Enjoy!
The whole tower
The explosion! Kaboom! I DID NOT use photoshop for the red light. It is the red light brick that comes in the orc forge, a great set with some awesome pieces!
Legolas riding down the stairs on an Orc Shield, one of my favorite scenes!
The Gimli Toss!
The forced perspective build of Eomer getting ready to charge down the hill to save Helm's Deep!
The heroes, with their custom torso's as the contest rules stated, besides Gimli. Not the best job, but not the worst. :D
Rohan Soldiers, the one on the right has a custom made torso.
You lucky duck. I forgot to mention not to build for multiple contests so that there would be no clashing of rules, but since I forgot, you're in the clear. But I'm not happy about it! Alright, Interpretation: 3 And the reason why is for it being a movie. I know it's a movie based off a book, but there is also the movie to look back to. Lego has never made a series based purely off books so all the custom pieces from the LotR Sets is kind of a let down. Anyway, Build: 9 because this is such a unique build. I love that it is a tower and the forced perspective shot was very well done. The explosion is a tough call because of the all the clear 1x1 studs making it not look quite like an explosion. Anyway, Presentation: 4 because the black photoshopping does not entirely go well with the white background of the original photos. Also you said scene giving more evidence to the movie referencing. A total of 16/20
Nice tower and some great action details! Interpretation of category: 5/5 Nice idea. Build: 7/10 Presentation: 3/5 I didn't care for the picture. Even though they were clear, the edges of each brick gives it away that it was photoshoped. Total: 15/20
I like it

Awesome Matthew!!!!! This is stunning!!!!! I like the scene with Legolas sliding down the stairs 5/5 !
For this being your first story tower you did a phenomenal job with it! Love the idea of using the light brick and Legolas sliding down the stairs and the angles in that level are superb! Can't say I like your custom decals, though. Anywho, love the overall look of the tower and looking forward to your next build!
