About this creation

The U.R.S. troops shifted slightly, each man preparing for what was about to come.

The F.I.S. let out a cry and started firing.

Blaster bolts flew all around as the U.R.S. fired back, the first few rows crouched in the trench and the rest stood in formation behind.

Blast crouched low just in the front row of the trench and very quickly several of the men around him had fallen and been replaced by men from the rows behind.

He realized his blasters weren’t very effective at such a range so holstered them, and after apologizing, took the assault rifle from the dead body next to him.

The F.I.S. were getting very close now and no sooner had he had time to raise his new weapon a lone trooper was bearing down on him.

He jammed the barrel of his weapon into the soldier’s chest, winding him then pulled the trigger,

bowing his head as the man exploded over him. The body dropped to the ground and Blast continued firing into the oncoming troopers.

Iadsgb had stayed where he was, letting the other soldiers pass him so that he could observe the battle without being in any immediate danger. He watched as the first attack went in nobody’s favor. Neither side seemed to be getting the upper hand.
His troops couldn’t seem to get past a certain distance from the enemy. They were being mown down at a rate they couldn’t afford.

He gave the order for them to cease the advance and the first couple of rows knelt down to give the behind rows a clearer shot.

The U.R.S. were taking just as much damage, hiding in their shallow trench, no more than a meter high all the way along. It occurred to R.K. later that it might once have been a riverbed.

Nightblaze’s men were the worst hit. Within the first ten minutes of fighting, they’d been eliminated and Nightblaze himself had a scrape on his right arm where a bolt had narrowly missed him.

He ducked down as his last man fell and scrabbled along in the trench, behind the crouched rows of men until he was a decent distance along and then stood up again, next to Shock and started firing again.

Iadsgb and his fellow leaders spread themselves along the front line of the kneeling F.I.S. forces, mirroring the U.R.S.. Iadsgb quickly realized however that the front line was not the safest place to be and so stepped backwards, slotting himself in between two troops in the first standing row behind.

His mind was working overtime, attempting to figure out a plan and over in the opposition’s trench, Blast was doing exactly the same.
Iadsgb briefly took his eyes off the battle to scan the surrounding area but found nothing of any use. No way they could somehow sneak behind the U.R.S. from the side. No way of using the landscape against them. Nothing. And he knew that if they just continued to stand there firing at each other, it would eventually end in a stalemate, with both sides out of men.

There was only one plan that came to mind… but it was suicide. Never the less it was worth a try. ‘Blast wouldn’t expect me to try anything as reckless.’ He thought to himself as he returned his gaze upon the enemy and spotted the top of Blast’s helmet virtually opposite him as he fired several more shots.

Blast was crouched down momentarily, down in the relative safety of the trench, then stood and shot down several more F.I.S. troops but then his comlink bleeped and he ducked down again, pulling it from his belt.

“Sir, the ships are ready for take-off.” The captain he had sent back to The Manipulator earlier told him.
“Thank you captain!” R.K. instantly ended the link so as to concentrate on the battle.

He sent a message along the line in both directions, informing the other leaders of his plan and soon, everybody was preparing to enact it.

In the F.I.S. ranks, Iadsgb had also com-linked his comrades informing them of his own plan. Nobody had liked it and Jamie had even gone so far as to call him mad but he put down the arguments and told them to get ready for the assault. Each leader informed the soldiers directly around them who then in turn past in on to those around them until eventually, every soldier knew of the plan.
“Ready?” he called into his link but didn’t wait for the answer before bellowing out, “Now! CHARGE!!!!”

The F.I.S. forces as one, all shouting battle cries and roaring, surged forwards, like a stampede towards the U.R.S. now no more than 60 meters away.

Blast stood once again and fired with his famed rapidity but then dodged an incoming laser. He quickly ducked down but then frowned as he heard a deafening cry.

He leapt to his feet once again and saw the entire F.I.S. army charging towards them.

His eyes widened under his helmet, briefly unsure of what to do but then leapt out of the trench to stand just in front of it and turned his back to them so he could shout to his own men.

Iadsgb was among the charging crowd and he saw Blast appear fully from the trench ahead. He gave the call.

The F.I.S. guns blared out, repeating volleys of shots tirelessly.

Just moments after Blast had finished shouting, he turned back to face the enemy.
A moment too late.

Two shots ripped through his left shoulder and he cried out as he was knocked back with the force.

He hit the ground with his head and lolling left arm hanging into the trench and there were shouts all around of his name,

name as the few troops nearest dropped their weapons and grabbed hold of him, preparing to haul him back to safety.

Padfoot saw it happen and as soon as R.K. was down, he left his position and sprinted along the crowded trench towards him shouting as he went, “KEEP FIRING!”

Iadsgb grimaced as the F.I.S.’s approach slowed under the increased fire from the enemy, men falling constantly, the front line being refreshed every few seconds. He and the other leaders had dropped back slightly so as not to be felled as easily.
“HOLD!” he shouted out and his men stopped dead and the first several rows once again dropped to various heights of kneeling and crouching.

Another shot hit the ground next to Blast’s leg as two men under Padfoot’s guidance pulled on the U.R.S. leader’s chest and good arm.

“Surround him! Covering fire, now!” Padfoot barked and a squad of troops vaulted over the trench and knelt in a semi-circle around their leader. One was hit within a second but another came to fill the gap.

Padfoot helped support his friend’s legs as R.K. was hauled into the trench, moaning loudly in agony.

The second in command knelt down by Blast’s side and using his own comlink, contacted the medical bay on board The Manipulator.

“We need stretchers out here NOW! Blast’s hit. Repeat, Blast is hit. Needing urgent evac’ and attention!”
“We’re on it.” A medic on the other end replied and Padfoot clipped his link back onto his belt.

“You’re alright Blast.” He attempted to comfort the writhing U.R.S. leader. “You’re alright.”
