London's The Shard in 1x2 and 1x1 trans-clear plates.
About this creation
Another SNOT creation, this model of The Shard in London abuses the manufacturing tolerance of 1x2 and 1x1 trans-clear plates to force it into a trapezoidal shape. A triangular cap with studs perpendicular to the main body forms the front facade.
I had read about the idea of building a sky scene behind the "glass" to simulate reflections in http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/285608 and decided to experiment with a cheaper trick. Cutting up a holiday brochure, I stuffed a sky into the hollow and got the top-right photograph. Is that cheating? After all, gradient backdrops are usually not Lego either!
