Preview of my new 23rd Century Universe story, March to the Apocalypse. This battle is not an official event, just a skirmish between the series' two most prominent vehicles.
About this creation
Before you begin, I highly recommend hitting 'Play.' This excellent piece of music inspired the name, and the series as a whole.
A well-known Zillan supply route on Ardeth II has fallen under attack. In search of the offender, a lone HST-3A "Bradley" has tracked his prey into the surrounding forest. Ardeth II does not have any trees, rather, it has fifteen foot high plants similar to grass, but edible and a delicacy.
His target lies in wait, partially concealed by the underbrush. Controlled by an advanced AI, this line of drone tanks prefers to ambush it's prey from behind, and will often cripple the target before repositioning itself further down the path, where it will finish off it's target. This behavior has earned its nickname, the "Predator" Heavy Tank.
Charging through, the Predator takes aim, ready to deliver the first strike. Using an advanced hover system, it manages to glide through the grass with ease. Unfortunately, the cover skews with the targeting systems of the tank.
Nevertheless, it scores a direct hit... on solid armor. The flung slug only manages to chip the armor, alerting the crew and giving them an opportunity to retaliate.
As the Predator swings around for another shot, the crew struggle to keep up. They are certain that a single volley can knock out the Predator, especially with their specialty Hemorrhage rounds, but they'd rather not waste ammunition.
The Predator scores another direct hit. As well as blowing off some skirt armor, the impact resonates inside the cramped cabin, stunning the crew. The Predator prepares to swing around to fire a round into the engine at point-blank range...
...but it catches itself in a very thick patch of grass, giving time for the crew of the HST-3A to recover.
Having recovered from the stun, the HST-3A maneuvers itself behind the trapped Predator, and fires a single volley of two rounds at close range.
One shot enters the turret directly. The explosion of the Hemorrhage round ignites the ammunition, further ripping the turret apart. The other round enters the side of the tank at an angle, disabling the hover capabilities and crippling everything else.
With the threat destroyed, the tank rides back to base in victory. The husk of the Predator is left behind, as a reminder to those who dare challenge the might of House E'Leit!
-Was this easy to follow? I hope it was.
-Basically, March to the Apocalypse is a 23rd Century story detailing a group of rogue outcasts, criminals, barbarians, and rebels forming an alliance to overthrow the Zillan government, in order to revive the ancient Zillan Continental Empire, and eventually secure the galaxy. And they have quite a few nice toys that they can achieve this with.
-The purpose of this comic is mainly to demonstrate why certain things (Robots, nukes) are generally disallowed. It's also for entertainment.
-If you'd rate and leave an honest comment, I would very much appreciate it.
Wow, that is an awesome double-barreled death-machine. I see alot of attention to detail, and the backyard setting is kind of cool. Maybe it was your front yard, in any case it looks like giant elephant grass next to the tank. Interesting story too.
I saw this posted in the Military group and I thought you might be interested in a MOC-based wargame I'm on staff for. Check it out of you like the game RISK, or you want to try something new.
