2013's Dutch Koninginnedag (Queen's day) was a very special one, as Queen Beatrix (now princess Beatrix) abdicated and gave the throne to prince Willem-Alexander (now King Williem-Alexander). Willem-Alexander is now king and his wife, Maxima, has the title of Queen. Above we can see the three (from left to right: King Willem-Alexander, pricess Beatrix, Queen Maxima) on the balcony of the Paleis op de dam (Palace on the dam), and below are the crowds cheering, dressed in orange, on the Damplein (Dam square). You can probably see the blue carpet in front of the crowds, on which the members of parliament walked later as they walked into the new church for the inauguration.
Happy Koninginnedag (or Koningsdag (King's day) next year) to all the Dutch lego fans!
