Crash One is an All-Wheel Drive ARFF. It carries 3,000 gallons of water, 400 gallons of AR-AFFF, and 500 pounds of Purple K.
The pump is a R600 1,850 gpm unit. Fire suppression is accomplished with an Akron 3463 bumper turret and a High Reach Expandable Turret mounted on the roof. The Akron is rated at 300 gpm, the HRET monitor at 1,5000 gpm, and the Stinger piercing nozzle at 250 gpm.
Two 1 ¾" handlines are installed as well. Water curtains are installed on all windows to protect the crew during incidents. A Forward Looking InfraRed camera is installed to allow the crew to fight fires when visibility is reduced.
Power is provided by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 turbocharged inline-6. Whelen LED lights are mounted all around and a Federal siren system is installed.
Crash One is housed at Station Three, along with Attack One. The station is located at the Platesmouth Regional Airport. Station Three was built recently as part of the airport expansion to handle more air traffic. PVLFD first assistance chief, Andy Morgan, is in charge of Station 3. The six person crew at Station 3 is full time paid during the day when the airport tower is operating.
