Star Wars Planet Series 1 Naboo Star Fighter 9674 mounted onto a 4-Planet Orrery
About this creation
Below is a video of the Orrery in action
This Orrey is a modified from a 4 Planet Orrey design by David Koch of the Nasa Ames Center who was working on the Kepler project in 2005. The original design used the first version of the Lego Technic Turntable (studded) which is not only obsolete but uncommon. I modified Koch's design to accept the 2nd version of the Lego Turntable which is more common and is studless. By switching over to a studless design - the turntable mount and main axle had to be redesign to provide enough rigidity-stablity in the frame to handle the vibration of all the gears moving at once. The red axle beam-brace at the bottom of the Orrey to necessary to stablize-steady the main vertical axle so that the horizontal drive shaft could transmit power to it.
Hi Walter, really nice job. You know I'm trying to make an orrery for my younger kid but I do not have the part you mention and I´ve not been able to find a way to replace it. I'm not very good at building lego things but I do want to make this one for my child. Would it be possible for you to share with me the instructions of your creation? Thanks!
Great job Walter, would you mind to share the instructions? I want to make one for my kid but I'm not very good at it without instructions. I've seen the instructions of the original orrery but i do not have the part you mention either. Thansk and Regards!.
