RC Light Strike Vehicle (LSV)
The Light Strike Vehicle (LSV) is an unarmoured fast attack military vehicle. This LEGO version is remote controlled, and features independent suspension and a 2 speed gearbox. The LEGO Technic axles were just right for building the tubular space frame. Enjoy!
About this creation

I'm quite fond of the blue seats with grey stripes! They go pretty well with the black body in my opinion.

The actual LSV used by the Singapore army. It's a fierce looking beast and I've always had the urge to build a LEGO version of it.

I like the spare tyre.

The red lever is the selector for the 2 speed gearbox.

Independent suspension for all 4 wheels.

Front - double wishbones, rear - live axle.

The servomotor at the front is used for front wheel steering. The L motor mounted transversely is connected through the gearbox to the rear wheels (RWD). The actual vehicle is 4WD but sadly I wasn't able to replicate it here - adding drive to the front wheels would result in a wider wheelbase which looks out of proportion. I'm not keen on building a bigger version than this, given my preference for models that are as compact as possible!

The 2 speed gearbox (idea borrowed from Sariel). The low gear works fine, but the high gear doesn't seem to have enough torque. The vehicle moves off slowly and will pick up speed only after a couple of seconds.

The spaceframe and the chassis can be separated, along with the guns and stuff.

The tubular spaceframe which serves as structural support in the actual vehicle. In this LEGO version it doesn't really provide much reinforcement to the chassis. I think that Technic elements are the most suitable for this vehicle given the way it looks.

The battery box is mounted behind the passenger seat on the chassis, and takes the place of the cooling pack in the actual vehicle.

Final picture with remote. I hope you like it!

Update 1: BLOGGED!

It was featured on The Lego Car Blog in May 2013! (:

Update 2: I built a newer version, the LSV MKII , which uses an XL-motor and has improved aesthetics. Please check out the link for more details!
