(LCC) The Battle of Ainesford.
A Battle build for the Lands of Classic Castle.
About this creation

Watch the video, or read the story below. :)

Mark of Falworth gathered his forces together and crossed the Aines River into Lenfald at a Loreesi-held bridge. His mission was clear. He would secure young Chartres to his rightful place on the throne of Lenfald, or he and all that were with him would die trying.
The route Mark chose brought the army near the city of Ainesford, but he thought it strategically unwise to besiege that place at preset. Yet the citizens of Ainesford didn't wish to see a large Loreesi army pass through unhindered, and gathered in force to repel the invaders.

Soon the Lenfels had gathered a host that could fight the Loreesi with good chance of success, and they lined up for battle in a field directly ahead of the route Mark's army was taking.
Mark quickly realized that the battle must be fought. For to retreat now would be a terrible blow to the cause of young Chartres.

Mark sent his cavalry away before the battle, boasting that the Loreesi can defeat the Lenfels in their own fashion.
Mark gazed coolly at the lines of the enemy, He had fought in many battles before, but this, this one would be different.

Mark's thoughts were interrupted when captain Didrik Hansson called out, "Lord Falworth! A lone horseman bearing a white flag approaches! I think they would seek to speak with us."
"Indeed, give me that white scarf, I shall go see what he wants."
Mark spurred his horse forward towards the mounted Lenfel.

The Lenfel was first to speak. "I would offer you greetings, Loreesi, but it looks like you have come with no peaceful intent, turn back to your own lands now. Do not be so anxious to start such a terrible conflict!"

Mark paused a moment to think.
"We come to Lenfald not in the name of our Prince, but in the name of Chartres Wenseclaus, who is the true heir to your province. If you dare stand in the way of justice and peace, so be it! But know that this war was born by your stubbornness and pride!
Look at your troops, now look at mine, yours are as brave as can be, but they are for the most part levies and volunteers. While my troops are battle-hardened veterans. Surely you would not choose to fight under such odds?"

The Lenfel replied coolly. "My orders are to stop any Loreesi forces who would try to pass northwards, I will complete the task that has been given to me."
Mark turned his horse and said. "Then diplomacy is at an end. Prepare for battle!"

Both knights rode back to their sides.

Mark called out to his troops thus...
"Soldiers of Loreos! You have endured the insults of these cowards long enough! Now is the time for vengeance! Now is the time for brave deeds! Let each do his duty and victory will be ours! For the Glory of Loreos!!!"

And all replied shouting their battle cry.
For the Glory of Loreos!!
And the front line of the Loreesi army charged towards the Lenfels.
The Army of Lenfald answered the charge with a deadly volley of arrows!
Many were shot dead on the spot, but the warriors of the desert continued to press forward.
The Lenfel archers withdrew as the heavy infantry rushed forwards to meet the charge.
And with a deafening roar both sides clashed together!
The soldiers on both sides hack stab and slash at their former allies!
The terrifying war elephants did incredible damage to all who came within reach.
In spite of all the efforts of the Loreesi, the Lenfels began to push the red-clad warriors backwards!
Then the Loreesi pikemen, held in reserve untill now, rushed forward... and instead of lowering their pikes, used their momentum to push their comrades forward again.
Then as each line pressed against the other, the sound of rolling thunder was heard....
...And the Loreesi cavalry burst over the hillside and swept into the rear of the Lenfel army!
Caught on both sides, the Lenfels were crushed and beaten down.
And the battle was over as soon as it began...

Thanks for viewing and have a great day! :)

Lovely landscaping! Great work. The mass battle scenes are very well made too. They're just right. Enough to be busy but not too much as to make it cluttered. Good stuff. --Blast--

I love the leaning pine tree in the back and the variety of the landscape. Well done! Though of course, a white scarf wrapped around a sword would have me slightly suspicious of the bearer's intent ;)
