16 inch guns for the missouri, these are 30 inches long from the turret to the end of the gun, they come in a weighty 3 1/2 kg each.took a week so far,a few finishing touches to do yet.compared to my arizona guns these are massive, will post a pic of the two together soon, this puts the missouri a bit farther ahead at long last, thanks for looking and any ideas on how to improve them is welcome, and before you all say ,,hey there megabloks yes they are mostly but at 3 1/2 kg each there very expensive guns LOL.Cheers Jim

Any idea when you will need this by because I will have to build the turntable in real life and attempt to have it rotate my A39 Tortoise(weighs around 7lb) then build it in LDD. Will it need a gun elevation or can you build it with a linear acculator and some gear reductions. just whatever is easiest for you,i doubt i will be adding motors(not at this stage anyway)maybe in the future,it will be a wee while yet as i,m still doing the superstructure, prob a month or later, thanks

Man, this is impressive, especially because what it's size suggests about the what the finished MOC will look like. I assume that you are building the WWII version of the Missouri, and not the one with the Reagan-era upgrades, right? Either way, it would kind of neat to build a "conversion kit" and show the differences between the two. |

WW11 version the one that ended the war in the pacific.will post some more pics this weekend on progress so far

With the turret rotation would you like a ldd file for it and what are the specs for the main house?
ldd will be fine.the turret dia is roughly 12 to 13 inches.hope that makes sense |

Wow, you really do have some serious plans :-0 But, considering the size of most of your models, a 1/350 scale would be a walk in the park. Mine was only about 4ft long; not bad considering yours exceed 10 feet in length :-0
BTW, make sure to check my homepage; there is a group called the 50+ club that I HIGHLY recommend you join :-) |

Hey, just came back to comment again :-) Massive work; I was wondering, have you considered to build any modern carriers? I built a USS Enterprise, CVN-80, in 1/350 scale, and I thought it would be something that you might be interested in :-) there is too many ships i would like to build, takes a lot of time and pieces now short on space LOL.i have a big list starting after the missouri, hopefully missouri(great white fleet)bismark(a must)and the saratoga or lexington.HMS dreadnought, and finally the USS TARAWA,that will keep me going for a good few years as i dont break them up,currently building the missouri(still ongoing)and buying pieces for a 9ft x 9ft oil rig,

It could be possible to do because I have seen some massive cranes on YT with a turntable it would need like a XL motor 5:1 reduction and a worm gear hooked up to a turntable and rollers for smooth rotation. I could post a example of what I mean if you want and the house for the guns would have plenty of space for battery box a linear extender. You could mount the rotating mech in the house also allowing for full 360 rotation but it could get quite expensive 1 AAA +1 IR + 1 XL(horizontal traverse) + 1 M(control elevation) all that x3 for the turrets.
sorry for late reply
yes it would be helpful if you can post something to make these turrets turn smoothly

It looks cool so far any plans for adding power functions for it because those turrets are gonna have to have ball bearings or rollers for smooth rotation. no plans for motors etc these things are too heavy fpr the motors to cope with I think,as for rollers to make them smooth,i have no idea on how to do that yet,i have one on tiled surface but it sticks a lot,so its a case of figuring something out as I go.i tried motors on a ship once but kept chewing up the plastic cogs and they were no where near the size of these

Whoa, massive! These things would make short work of any LEGO tank, building, or Death Star, quite impressive! |

Man you have me drooling! Those things are massive! As far as how to improve on them? I have no clue. The job you've been doing with the whole project is outstanding! As far as Lego vs. Megablocs goes, I say go with what you have. Each company has blocks that the other doesn't which you may need. I've been contemplating on getting back to work on my transforming version and seeing this makes the urge greater. I've been rearranging the house so I have to find a decent place to set up though. Presently, I'd say I'm about 1/4-1/3 of the way done. Maybe. It certainly won't be as impressive as what you're undertaking though! |

I suppose you will cover the studs with tiles! The result now is excellent and I hope to see the full ship!
Congratulations. yes hopefully they will but at the moment i dont have enough tiles so they have to stay like that for now.

Massive! I have to ask, how large will this ship be, when completed? 23 1/2 feet long when finished give or take.try to build minifig 38/1 40/1 so somewhere around there,3 feet to 3 1/2 feet wide and around 4 feet high without the masts.
