This is a good looking ship, the aesthetics blow away your early designs. Anyway, Chris, there is no WW2 style "thick of the battle", future naval combat will be much stealthier and take place at far greater ranges, with the combat essentially boiling down to both sides trying to remain hidden while trying to locate enemy forces. If something is located, it's essentially dead, often from ship mounted railguns/missiles located hundreds of miles away or a submarine firing a 50 ton torpedo almost guaranteed to break a ships keel.

The main gun turrets are nice designs. Regarding combat value, my Ironclad is a better choice. Try and go for hidden weaponry and stealthy shapes if you want your ships to stay alive.
This ship is meant to head into the thick of battle which means that I prefer that the battleship-classes have all weapons should be out besides the missiles.
