TYE Wing Ugly Starfighter
About this creation
The TYE wing is an ugly, that is, a starfighter constructed from parts of damaged or obsolete ones. This particular ugly was seen in X-wing: Rogue Squadron: The Phantom Affair, I believe, Kavilís Corsairs were the lucky owners. As a rule uglies are employed by those who cannot get anything better, you see these ships are exactly what they appear to be cobbled together junk with the occasional fresh coat of paint. The TYE wing has only the TYE fighters twin laser cannons where armament is concerned and of course have the Y-wings recognizable engines. I do not know if it has hyperdrive or not. In the comic, which I ran across while surfing, the poles each engine possesses are golden yellow, but I donít have ANY technic poles in that color so I used good old black.

Never having been all that fond of how the official Y-wing engines look I dug out my extra bags of white and yellow components along with about all the long poles I could muster and put these babies together. Nota Bene: The official Y-wings are usually undersized, at the same time, however, mine are hardly perfect. Iím very happy that I got the ARC-170 and newest Slave 1 at a garage sale early this summer, they are very important to this ship.

Yet another eyeball cockpit, as compared with the Clawcraft I made in January I think Iím getting a tad better at making them.

It opens! Inside are the controls and the pilot seat, I donít know if TIE wings have life support.

The scoundrelly pilot looks contemptuously at me, ďMake sure you get it right this time kid,Ē he sneers as I fight back the urge to dismember the tiny creep.

I can't say that it looks very pleasant to try and pilot, but great model overall; nice to see an accurate visual model to represent the description in the novels. I'd love to see some more Uglies :)

Excellent. I always want to build a Y-Wing, so maybe you could use this brilliant engine design to build one yourself. Are those white windscreens real elements? I really like those. Please build more uglys! Maybe you could try the Z'Ceptor, the Tie-X, the X-Ceptor, or the Y-Tie. I even just read about a weird "Corellian B-Wing".

haha nice tye-wing. you should try to make another type of X-tie that i heard described in one of the X-wing novels by michael stackpole. it's a tie cockpit with x-wing swing wings. uglies are definitely the junkers of the star wars universe.

This is an interesting concept. I might make the cockpit slightly bigger, so that it stands out more between the engines. Nice job.
