I like how you've captured the textures of a carved, African mask with flat Lego. The restricted palette really emphasises the look and helps to give it quite a sinister feel, something which it has in common with quite a few of the builds in this series. |

Hey David, I keep looking at this and there is a whole lot more going on in here. El Barto pointed out the red lines not matching and giving it dimension. It is a perfect description that reminds me of Magritte and optical illusion Art. The effect pushes the negative space backwards and forwards. Also, McLegoboy pointed out the original Darth Maul. The imagery is so iconic and the idea of the "devil" is so embedded that it's a beautiful observation. I would also recommend reading "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke for the specific collective subconscious visual recognition you have here. Again, outstanding. Sorry about the long commentary.
No thank you for the thoughtful comments.

Yes, I like how the red lines don't match all the way across. Creates an interesting effect, giving it some dimension. Clever! |

Mildly disturbing, but very cool. The use of the two scariest colours also helps! |

I hadn't even seen that connection, but yes that it is a perfect observation. |

Very cool. May I ask what cultural art style this one is inspired by?
It wasn't strictly taken from any cultural forms, although I definitely had Kabuki masks in mind when I built it. It is a loose connection though. |

This is another winner! I love Matt's comment about your use of 'negative spcae'. If this had been commented on by some of these bionicles builders they would say you didn't fill in the spaces! Enough said.
Fill in the spaces, they need to think outside the box. If I had a stack of bionicle pieces I'd accept the negative space challenge. |

Now that is just perfect. That is how you use negative space to it's fullest potential. Beyond excellent David. This one's a keeper.
Trying to push the brick space ratio onwards the space end of things. |
