BCR2 Entry AKA ThunderThighs
About this creation

Back in Black (mostly Red)

My entry for the Biocup. Round 2.
I know, I know. It's kinda... crazy. Bear with me, this thing is fun as all hell to play with. Especially the feet.

Moosic

Before you go off and yell at me, I know the photo editing is horrible. I was extremely pressed for time and in a bit of a frenzy. Just try to... look past the smudgy white bits.

Alright. This hurr is the Sordid Bulwark. As it turns out, it's got a similar background to Chro's entry, although I had the colors and story down long before he made any of his stuff public. It's part of a wall. the Bulwark, and hundreds of other like it, would align their shins and crouch down (with pilots inside of course), then use their mounted cannons to provide a formidable defense against anything attacking the citadel that then once defended. In fact, since the inhabitants of these machines matched the colors of the thing itself, the populace was fooled into thinking that the wall was entirely robotic. The pilots never left the mechs, and we sustained through a variety of IV drips connected to them in various spots. Of course, this ancient kingdom fell into ruin eventually, and the wall began to fall apart, various pilots leaving for other civilizations, but all dying because once the drip stopped flowing, they couldn't function. The machines were covered by sand, all but the very last one. The armor of the truant, the traitor who tried to usurp the dying kingdom and return it to it's former glory. He climbed the citadel, and with all of his strength tried to reach the top, but it was in vain. The king was too well defended, and he was killed. His suit fell into ruin at the top of the Royal Palace, waiting for a new pilot. and it sat there for hundreds of years. Until Mongke came along and saw a heap of glistening red in the sand, and put it on.

hooray for hastily written stories based on a certain manga

Oookeydokey. the Bulwark is essentially a glorified pair of stilts, which puts it up there with the most unique entries this round, in my humble opinion. The rest of the mech is a large backpack/exhaust vent/everything backpack lump that houses all of the technical doodads, and provides the wearer with a lot of stability (oh, if only this were true. This thing is a complete pain in the ass to set up).

Finally, the legs themselves have hydraulic pumps that allow the wearer to boost forward at absurd speeds, using the body of the machine as a weapon. This, combined with the mech's bottom-heavy nature, allows for brutal kicks and lots of defensive fighting technique.

My main motive with the build was firstly build what I described above, but on a technical standpoint, I wanted the mech to have all of the articulation of the original build. Long story short, it does. Except for the ankles. Oh, and I tried to use as many liftarms and as few actual pieces of bionicle armor as possible. The build is essentially all technic, if you couldn't tell. It's also very loose because of all of the pressure the pieces put on one another, and I keep having to push parts back together. I love the thing, but it's coming apart veeery soon.

Finally, you may have noticed that Mongke looks different. This very well may be breaking some of the rules: his head is totally different (I couldn't resist the horns. Sue me), and his shoulders have changed in order to accommodate the guns and his backpack. In my defense though, LEGO itself changed the form of several figures in order to fit them inside vehicles. I also replaced several miscolored parts, although I haven't changed any of his actual body structure, just a few bits of armor.

So there 'ya have it. the Sordid Bulwark. Hope you liked it's unconventional style and whatnot. It might just be the only mech in the contest that doesn't use any HF, but I'm far too lazy to check. Gotta get this bad boy uploaded!

For some peculiar reason I am reminded of Wallace and Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. Chaotic, quirky and functional. Let him run with it! 7 points!

Quoting Monarth San Holy crap, those LEGS! They're so ridiculous that they actually WORK. While the coverage doesn't stretch much to the arms, I still can't help but give an 8 for originality. This thing cracks me up, good job.
Exactly what i was going for. Thanks man!

Crazy-original concept as a pilot, capitalized on by the cup-stilt design of the legs. Some innovative parts-use, too. 7 Points from me, Max. Good luck!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Power Pants! Or possibly stilts! I like them, and they look very playable! I don't know if I should give this an 8, but it sure is superior to some stuff which got a 7 from me... man next time I'll press for fractions. Ok, I'll flip a coin. 7 points. Sorry, you lost half a point. EDIT- I will award you + 0.5 points for originality. I'll bring you to 8.
