Part 7.5: Operation Gemstone Overview
It’s the Turtle Entrance! More importantly, it explains the true plot behind Operation Gemstone to any outlaws who didn’t get how they were duped. Go join the Lands of Mythron if you don’t know what I’m talking about - Rainos loves you!
About this creation

Once more, the castle of King Bartok of Rainos has the chance to host international intrigue. Today, an esteemed visitor has arrived via the doors of the Turtle Room.
~ ~ ~ Cast of Today’s MOC: ~ ~ ~
King Bartok of Rainos: Sovereign High King over a virtual anarchy, Bartok does his best to keep Rainos strong despite the independence of his subjects.
Lord Hector Darkbeard: The chief wizard of the Dragon Clan, Darkbeard is also Bartok’s right-hand man in everything supernatural.
Lt. Colonel Iveson: A loyal guard from Dragon Clan and chief of the new mine in Guaire.
~ King Bartok’s Bodyguards ~

“These are, indeed, beautiful stones, Lord Darkbeard. They’re… precious….”
“That would be the glamour I placed on them, sire. Not strong enough for most mages to notice, but subtly powerful nonetheless.”

“In fact, sire, these are the best that our ‘mine’ has produced. Our stonecutters worked hard on them, and I placed them under a separate enchantment from the others. They’re our… souvenir… edition.”
“That reminds me. It is time to disenchant the others and let those scheming outlaws see what they really received for their troubles.”

“At once, my liege. Pasta! Veni Vidi Vici! Flibbertigibbert!

“The primary part of my plan has failed – the clan chiefs have refused to meet – but I can at least bankrupt the jewelers of Mythron and whoever else purchased the so-called ‘blue diamonds’. Perhaps their entire economy will collapse, wouldn’t that be nice? Now, is the mine ready to begin operation?”

“Colonel Iveson can tell you that, sire.”
“Rise, colonel. I understand that you were in charge of ensuring that our precious rocks were stolen?”

“The only difficulty was in ensuring that the thieves made it back to Mythron safely, sire. One massive pack of them came right up to the mine gates in disguise and handed over a forged order to hand over all the diamonds we had, can you believe it? But now to exhibit the true treasure of the Guaire mine. Men, bring the chest forward.”

“Beautiful. These steel ingots seem to be exceptionally fine.”
“The very best – they’re freshly smelted right from the source, and no one has seen better metal. Some trick – no one in Mythron will think that our dummy diamond mine is about to stock the royal armory!”
“Aye, you have done your work well, colonel.”

Now you see the politics behind the forgery of the blue diamonds: Outlaws steal the “priceless” stones and sell them on the markets in Mythron. When the wizard reveals them as fakes, the market collapses and lots of Mythronians lose money, which in turn makes Rainosians happy. In the mean time, the illusion of a massive robbery enrages the Rainosian warriors, who theoretically come together as a nation to exact their revenge and thus centralize political power so the king has more influence to help his country. Unfortunately, the hordes of Rainos left their leaders behind and rushed right into the fight, so all Bartok had left was the chance to lighten his enemy’s coffers. Although he doesn’t know it yet, Bartok also lost a chest of real diamonds, which are now scattered around Mythron for “barbarians” and outlaws to fight over, giving rise to the second part of the challenge.

Build Notes:
The Turtle Room is another part of King Bartok’s castle, one chamber of which I featured in an earlier MOC. This time I used less detail, but the mosaic is much more impressive (its predecessor was a blobby tree).

A most excellent build! The rooms seemed lived in. Fills in the story well. Even pokes fun at my outlandish forgery! Love it!
