LOM Persuasion Challenge: Gates of Reedus
This is my entry to the Persuasion challenge for LoM. After my little encounter with Imperials in the Inn, I knew the only safety for an Outlaw like me was in Bodus, which was where I was headed anyway. Making my way through Reedus was difficult, mainly because the place was crawling with Mythronians. I eventually had to cover my all too noticeable green cloak with a tattered grey one. My green cloak had nearly given me away twice. But it was my father's, and I wasn't going to throw it away. Anyhow, I've finally made it to the outskirts of Reedus, and found myself heading straight for a heavily guarded gate.
About this creation

As I approached the gate, I automatically become nervous about my situation.

Two gaurds, one currently armed, were right in front of the gateway, blocking any passage through.

The next, and more alarming, thing I noticed was a bowman in a lookout atop the gate. It meant that if I was to fight my way through, I could dispatch the two ground guards in a flash, but wouldn't get far because of that bowman. He would have me shot down within just a few short yards.

I had to think quickly. The guards had caught sight of me, and appeared quite suspicious of anyone(mainly me)wearing any red and not blue.

And so, I quickly bent over to the side, cape covering my face, and gave out a few, fake, harsh coughs. All the while, I quickly applied some dirt from the road onto my face and clothes, giving me a grungy look.

Then, I approached the guard with light orange hair, who had quite abruptly stepped into my way. He then gave me a disgusted look and began to speak.
First Guard: State your business, filthy peasant!

Second Guard: Oi! State your business, man! Or the archer above will shoot ya down!

I gave out another few fake coughs and spoke an accent different from my own.
Me: Forgive me, good sirs! But you must let me through! My poor mother is without her wits! My brother just came down from a settlement North-East of this good town. He claims our mother is in dire need of assistance!

Looking down, I could see from the empty bottles that the second guard had drunk enough ale today to satisfy three men. To bad he wasn't the only one guarding today. He could have been easily fooled in his drunken state.

First Guard: Nonsense foolish man! This gate has been closed for two days! No one has come in or out of Reedus this way! Therefore, your brother could not have come!

Above, I could hear the bowman shuffling with something. Perhaps his bowstring... I had to think quick.

Me: I be terribly sorry if I made you upset, good sir! But my brother came in from the southern gate. You know, to avoid bandits and such on the main road.

Second Guard: Aw! Poor blighter! Let 'im through, Farbus! His story's more than convincing! His mother being sick and all. Besides, what trouble can he be?
First Guard: What trouble you ask? Then what's the reason you carry a sword, peasant?
Me: I be taken the main road, sir. Full of danger, it is! Wouldn't want to be caught by Outlaws without a weapon by me side!

The first guard was still hesitant, but he eventually gave in and stepped aside for me to pass.
Second Guard: Best of luck to ya traveller, and your mother!
Me: Thank you, good sirs! You must be the most honorable knights in Mythron!
Then I stepped through the gate, and watched as they closed it tightly behind me.

Second Guard: You be too strict Farbus! If you would perform your duties with a smile, more people would take this passage!
First Guard: Perhaps if you didn't drink so much, your brain would perform faster! I could have sworn that man was hiding something under his clothing. It looked like a good sized box, or maybe a book.
Second Guard: Bah! You're too much of a worry wart! You need a hobby!

I just silently laughed to myself on the other side of the gate. Then, I carried on my way to Bodus with the book snugly hidden in my clothes.

Just another aerial view without figs.

A close up view without figs.

Very, very nice work! I love the dark tan on the ground, the texture is great. The rockwork is also very nicely done; the smooth bits add a nice touch of realism. The dead trees were a good touch, too. Epic!
