On August 4th, 2013 the Riverwoods Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1561 Town Drive. Upon Engine 52's arrival, a 1-story single-family dwelling was well involved in fire with an exposure in Division B, 1565 Town. Shown above is Engine 52's officer conducting his 360 for size-up.
About this creation
The officer of Engine 52 ordered the company to dump the tank with the deck gun and had Engine 53 to assist with securing water. Engine 52 had an issue with the deck gun, so the crew lead out a 2.5 instead.
Truck 55 was first in because Tower 51 was out of position at the fuel pumps. Here you can see 55's crew removing the 28 foot extension and a 14 foot roof ladder to vent the roof of the exposure building.
Battalion 5 is on the scene and has assumed command. Battalion 5 was unable to park close enough, so he assumed a mobile command (he likes that better anyway).
Engine 53's crew is visible in front of the exposure preparing to make entry after securing water. Battalion 5 ordered duel 2.5s dropped to attack both structures which were well involved at this point.
Tower 51 is now on the scene and walking up with tools. They ditched the rig on 16th Street and walked down. The heavy involvement is really visible from this angle.
A closer up view showing all companies working! Truck 55 taking the roof of the exposure. Engine 53 making entry. And Engine 52 still trying to knock back the fire on the original fire building to make entry.
FF Santoni from Truck 55 heading to the roof.
The original fire building is showing some signs of darkening, and crews are beginnging to make headway on both fires.
Both structures were vacant and 1561 had burned previously on C-Shift 3 weeks ago.
