About this creation
Previous chapter

As Athana felt a breeze coming from behind her, she slowly turned around only to panic and see a gigantic skull of a dragon. She backed against the wall in shock, but wouldn't let out any noise. As she slowly began to see in the dark, she began to see the rest of the skeleton, with a spiked spine going down the back... until rocks blocked the view. The body was crushed under rubble. Athana figured that the roof had fallen on top of it, but wasn't sure how, as the room appeared to be carved in rock and was of drachenian architechture.

After adjusting a while to the dark, she began to see smoke streaming between the fallen rocks. Looking at the floor she saw a circular pattern surrounding the source of the smoke. The well of shadow! She sneaked closer to confirm it, slowly but surely. Walking past the skeleton gave her chills down her spine. How could've such a giant ended up down there?

As she confirmed her curiosity, she sighed, and suddenly heard a gloomy whispering noise behind her. She quickly went back to the skull as it seemed to be the source of the sound. Little did she expect, when the eye she looked at lit up and looked directly at her.

Athana panicked and quickly ran to a corner as the whole skeleton came alive, emitting wind-like whispering noise and slightly glowing smoke, lighting the room dimly. The skeleton stood up on its wings and looked directly at Athana. She suddenly heard an echoing low voice in her head: "Who are you...?" Athana swallowed. The skeleton spoke telepathically. After a moment she carefully responded "Um... A-Athana..." She heard a response. "Athana... why are you here?" She explained how some creature was attacking her and she fell down. She also explained how she's an orphan as her parents have died and she has no family left, except for a greatgreatgreat grandmother she hasn't even met. She was on her way to find her when her current incident happened. The skeleton questioned. "Do you know your great grandmother's name?" Vidra replied hesitantly. "Um... I think her name's Vidra..." The skeleton's eyes shrunk, like it was shocking news to him. After a pause the skeleton replied "She's alive... And she's your ancestor... Do you know what that means?" Athana replied "No....?" "...It means I am your greatgreatgreat grandfather."

Athana was shocked by the news. This skeleton was her ancestor? Athana wanted answers. "How can you be my ancestor? I mean, you're a skeleton?! What happened? How? Wha...? This is confusing..." The skeleton's telepathic voice turned softer. "It's a long story, but I'll explain it to you. You see, I was the first drachenian to become a dragon. I had remarkable skills over shadow and was trained by the best. After my initial guardian duty I had to fend off an evil who was almost like a brother to me. In that conflict I presented a 'darker' side of myself and after the victory I began traveling with a friend of mine, which was your great grandmother Vidra, to figure out my unbalanced emotions and learn new things. Along the road we met many new friends and had many adventures and when I finally returned, I became the guardian of this city. In time I had developed enough with my shadow power to become the first dragon seen at the time. Vidra followed soon after along with many others, and we started a family..."

Athana asked what happened next. Her ancestor's voice echoed a sigh. "Then eventually, I fell ill. I wasn't even old yet. The drachenians were not ready of letting go of me, my wisdom and my guidance so early. And so, a group of them tried to preserve my life in a desperate effort. They dragged me down here in secrecy, while I was weak and unconscious of the sickness, and threw me over the well of shadow. The power of the well manifested strongly in my body, enlarging myself, mutating me into this form you see before you. And my soul..."

"...My soul was torn in half along with my element."

"I am only half of myself what you see here. Of my element I am left with the corruptive force and of my body I am left with this... And I cannot rest. The event collapsed the roof of this room, costing me my hind legs and I do not have the strength to crawl out. I was left here and all the entrances were sealed, probably so no one would find out about me and the mistake the group made."

Athana was very surprised of this story, but felt the sympathy for her ancestor. "How sad... I wish I could help you." After a brief pause she heard a reply. "Maybe you can..." "How?", she responded. "Go find grand elder Kura from Ivila, the White City. If he's still alive, he should be there. Tell him your story and tell I sent you, and he'll understand." "Got it.", Athana replied. "...but how will I get out of here?"

The skeleton looked upwards at the hole she fell through. "I'm guessing you can't fly properly yet, but... Hmm... Come stand on my snout." Vidra was a little grossed out, but obeyed. "Spread your wings and I'll give you a boost up." Vidra set herself ready and was launched up just correctly and flew through the hole and landed softly. She quickly looked around if the beast was still there. She heard only silence of the dawn. She turned around and peaked down the hole. "I'm leaving now, but could you tell me your name so I can tell elder Kura who sent me?" "But of course, I almost forgot. My name is Monarth. Give the elder my regards." And so Athana ran off.

To be continued...

For the record, the wings can hold up and I don't know how :D

So, been a while since my last creation. I planned building a skeletal dragon for a long time and my spring orders were mainly focused on the parts I'd need to build this. While I couldn't get everything white, I mostly managed. This was already completed in April, but somehow I was fixated to build another related moc for the sneak peak here, before I could post this. But alas, here it is finally, and believably the first of its kind in the Bionicle section.

I hope you've enjoyed this and leave some nice rates and comments =)

I would love to see this 3 times as big, all huge and bleached and whatnot. It reminds me of the Skeleton boss from Twilight Princess. Very cool.

DUDE! Love dragon bones! This conveys the skeletal dragon well, and I complement you for it. Even with the black parts, there is plenty of white to draw focus away from those parts.
