Fort 'Sendum Pakkin' is an entry in the 'Territorial Defensive Power: Sea' category.
The rapid deployment of these forts on a large scale has been made possible by SEAL structural engineers developing a new material termed 'dehydrated concrete'. Less than a tenth of the mass and volume of normal concrete, on contact with salt water it expands to full size and solidifies within 24 hours. Using this amazing material, an entire fort's superstructure can be built on land, lifted to its intended location by a heavy cargo helicopter, dropped into the sea and 'poof!' - a day later, there's your fortification. The only downside is, they all come out looking like pin-cushions.
These forts are designed to give offshore defence against approaching enemy fleets, with heavy guns giving 360 degree protection. The firing arc of each cannon is wide enough that every approach angle is coverd by 3 cannons, apart from the side closest to shore where the landing stage is located.
Speaking of which, here is the jetty where friendly vessels can dock and supplies from the mainland are delivered - although the fort can hold enough supplies for its 15 crew to be self-sufficient for a month.
This is the first of my DA MOCs that's loosely based on real-world military - in this case, Spit Bank fort, one of four sea forts built in the Victorian era to protect the approach to Portsmouth Harbour, the Royal Navy's most strategic port. I was lucky enough to visit the real fort a few years back when it was open to the public, it was amazing! Unfortunately it's now a luxury hotel, so you have to be very rich to explore this historic location.
As per the DA rules, I managed to get my helicopter in! There's also a Remora class submarine heading off to scout for miscreants...
Thanks for reading, and if you like it, please 'Like' it! It helps in the game!
Awesome! I love the name and the design of the base! Great detailing throughout, especially on the submarine and helicopter. I love that helicopter! Permission to use the design?

The hour is late General Lucas! Build your walls and try to block the tides that swirl around you... It's lonely out in front isn't it? Great build man! Attack!

Awesome interpretation of the category, probably my favorite too. Just when I thought I'd cleared the last DA model a great one pops up. General you are specifications accurate and ready for the coming maelstrom of blood.
