LTC Elite Guard Samuron Combiner: Stormrider V1.2 - Hypax Armour

During the conquest wars, a special technology was uncovered. It was called the 'Hypax Armour'. Spectre was the first to claim this, while he was still a renegade from the Decepticons and had not joined the autobots yet. One of the many who gained this after was Samuron. It was a general team decision that their leader, Stormrider, should keep such a powerful weapon. It was after this that they discovered that this weapon was of Quintesson design, and that Lord Cinder had accidentally lost these on his journey to Cybertron. Stormider and his comrades now prepare for Cinder's arrival, pointlessly hoping that he will not bring his army of Quintesson mecha with him...
About this creation
Okay guys, admit it. This stuff makes no sense, right? Well, this is just referring to older LTC MOCs, and how the Hypax Armour fits into the story. Most of you know Spectre, but if you don’t then check out these three MOCs.
- Spectre Version 1 (Full Colour Version)
- Spectre Version 2 (Regular Figure)
- Spetre Version 2 (Hypax Armour)
Also, you may not get who Lord Cinder is. Well, he’s a Quintessian warlord who encased himself inside a mechanical body (a mech, similar to a dreadnaught from warhammer 40k). He also did the same to his army. Check out these:
- Quintesson Mech Lord Cinder
- Quintesson Mech Soldier
That should hopefully clear things up for you. Now, enjoy the MOC. :)

Genoace: Um, is he okay?
Declan: Yeah, he kinda did get a pretty large shot to the head from last MOC. He may have concussion, or something.
Stormrider: Do you even know what that is?
Declan: No, not really. Oh well, at least I know how to play the saxophone. And with that new jazz musician that came out a couple of days ago, I'll finally be able to play it in lego form!

Genoace: Yeah, back on topic. He's gonna need a few re-wiring things here and there. By the way, what's with all the decals on him?
Stormrider: I think it was Declan who put them there.
Declan: Um, guys? I think he's getting up.
Stormrider: Uh, why did you put tonnes of decals on him?

Guncannon: HA HA! Now to take my revenge on you. I was defeated last MOC, but now I shall pay you back! If anyone moves, I'll kill Declan.
Declan: What?
Genoace: Whoa whoa! Calm down, you don't have to go that far...

Stormrider: I'll be back in a second...
Declan: Where he hell are you going?! My life's in danger here!
Genoace: Stop this nonsense right now!
Guncannon: I don't have to listen to you. You're just a crappy knockoff of the original. Not just that, but basically all Gundam Age is is a ripoff of Gundam Wing!

Guncannon: No, I refuse. I have better things to do. Now, lick me metal feet.
Declan: Hell no! Are you messed up in the head or something?
Genoace: You did get shot pretty hard.
Guncannon: THAT'S IT! I'm going to kill you right-

Stormrider: You were saying?
Guncannon: What the?

Guncannon: Oh god! I give up! Maybe I should go and turn myself in to Zeon.
Stormrider: We don't have any Zeon models.
Guncannon: Well, then...

Genoace: Who's part of a bad show NOW?
Stormrider: That may change with the Gundam Origin series coming out.
Declan: **SIGH*** Well at least we don't have to worry about him anymore...

Declan: Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this MOC. I built it just after posting the original, so I couldn't be bothered posting the crappy Optimus Prime I built at my grandparents. I'll post it later. Until then, happy building!

This kind of Hypax Armour comes with three components. It looks like there are four, but one of them is just his normal gun. Each of them (except for the shield) are built with the highest complexity possible.

The shield is really simple. I thought that it would be best to give him a shield, as Samuron is going to need the strange circular thing on his head in the combo model. It has the strange part on the top that will be of use later.

The sword, however, is way cooler. Yeah, I know I said it would be overkill, BUT WHO CARES?!

The only downside of this epic sword is it's weight. It's extremely heave, so it's hard to balance the figure when he's holding it.

You'll notice that it's got sloped bricks in there to keep it from feeling empty. Also, as you may have seen earlier, it has extra sloped parts on the back to cover up the open spaces.

The same hole that was used for the gun can now house the sword.

The sword is build in such a way as to clip it and keep it aligned at all times. It uses the same peg type, though.

It simply fits in like so. Those offset bricks will also make sense later on.

The sword looks amazing on him. You may not notice it in the photos, but as I've said before it makes him very front-heavy. The feet kind of counter it, thankfully.

You'll notice that I've added on an extra offset brick on the hand.

This is for the shield. It's quite simply.

And here is the samurai leader with both his sword and his shield. I can't remember if the sledgehammer's version had a shield or not, but who cares. I gave him one. :P

Oh, and did I mention that the weapons combine into a backpack? Yep, they do! Unlike the sword form, it doesn't unbalance it too much. You'll notice the two offset bricks that I mentioned earlier.

All you have to do is plug them is just as you would do with the gun that the regular version comes with.

The second part makes it look a little cooler. You take the sword...

...and fold down the extra flaps! Yep. They can do that!

Focusing back on the centre, both the shield and the gun from the regular mode can be stored on the back.

The gun fits on the top with the same peg used form the back and the robocop-inspired leg storage.

And the shield (if you put the shoulder forward a bit) can store on the end.

And there you have it! The sword combines with the other weapons to make a pretty awesome recon-like backpack! I actually designed this by accident at first, but after realising the potentian I continued it to do so.

The gun can also fold in on its ratchet joint to activate a target system. Pretty cool, if I do say so myself...

The final element of the Hypax Armour is his massive backpack.

Although he can already fly due to his cybertronian shuttle alt mode, this backpack assists with Stormrider's flight capabilities in his robot mode. It's like giving a jetpack to a dragon. They already can fly, but if they had a jetpack they could fly faster and have better manouverability. It's like that.

Just a quick view from the back. Nothing much to see here...

I used the same building technique that I used on Ervan's mech for the steam CYOA, with the folded-over sloped pieces.

Just like the sword and the gun, this backpack fits into the exact same place.

All you gotta do is peg it in.

And there it is! It's massive, isn't it! I can't wait to see what it'll look like in LDD!

Sadly, this backpack does not store the weapons like the sword does. This only leaves one thing to do...

...and that's making him hold them!

Due to the backpack balancing out the weight, the problems of him being front-heavy are no longer relevant. Well, okay, they kinda still are. But at least not as much, right?

Oh, and yes. He IS holding both the shield and the gun. I'm really glad I added the extra hole for it!

To finish, here's a size comparison with the good old Genoace. I know I say this a lot, but please like and comment. It really helps. The more people do that, the more I get noticed. The more I get notices, the more likely I am to make more MOCs. If you want more MOCs, then like and comment. Now, I'm getting back to my essay. Seriously, I have to write an essay in the middle of my holidays and memorise it completely for the yealy exam. It's a miracle I get good marks and still have time for lego...

Quoting Chris - The SledgeHammer Yep! The new armor definitely improved an already good design. Also yes the large version I made did have an arm mounted shield - although it was on his left arm and he held the sword in his right hand - but it really doesn't matter that much :) - Great job!
Thanks! Also, I reverse engineered it last night. This means I can get right into my next one! :)
