David. vs Jacob Huppi
Mighty Empire: Build us a creation from Roman times. A battle, a house, a boat, whatever you want. Of course, the more historically accurate the better.
This scene is set at Angel Bridge, spanning the Tiber River, in Rome, Italy. The bridge is also known as Ponte Sant'Angelo. It was constructed sometime between 134 and 136 AD by Roman Emperor Hadrian. It connects Ponte with the rion of Borgo.
David was whisked away early this morning by his father for a weekend of hiking. It was left to me, dear old mom, to finish uploading these pictures. He did not have opportunity to caption each picture he took, but did explain some things as he was showing me this most impressive creation this morning. I have added a few captions, from what I was told. I hope I have done everything satisfactorily. All the best to David and Jacob Huppi - and the rest of you builders! Enjoy!

Is that a spear with a sponge? Dipped in vinegar, no doubt!
Yep, I can totally see what you mean. Trust me, the end result I wanted was a bit more detailed up top. :) The bottom just took longer than expected, and filling in the big hollow void in the back was trickyer than thought. :/ Thanks though!

Thanks man! Glad someone commented on my Amphoras, I'm really proud of them. :)
Nice work, but ultimately I feel that your opponent achieved the Roman effect better and he gets my vote. While your foliage and the wall look very good, I think a more brick-built boat and details on the vast empty space above would be nice. Still, good work.
Yeah, I can see what others are saying about the top being a bit plain but you concentrated your time on other things and it shows in the details like the statues and the foliage, the riverbank and bridge. Good build and good luck to you!
You have used some lovely details in this! Clever idea to use the brick panels under the bridge and keep the complex brickwork in the exposed areas where we can really see and admire it! What a great Mom you have too! Best of Luck! :)
Very nice David! And you got your mom to post it? She's a keeper! ;) It just wouldn't be Italian without a wine cellar. Clever idea. Great details all around. My only criticism would be to maybe tile the road like a cobblestone street, that way it would add a ton of interest and texture to the bare plates much like the beautiful walls. Love the statues and the vases. Good luck!

Not the best Roman model I've seen/thought of, but not bad at all.
(Oh, you do know you compromised your building quality my giving someone else your account password...)

Cool MOC! Nice set up and the boat design is pretty clever.
David's Mom here...the finishing touches were not meant to be as he was rushed out the door. I'm just thankful he got the pictures taken! (PS - to the one that made comment about the password, he wouldn't be on mocpages unless I did! *smile*)
Great big build! The bridge and port our nice addition as well;)
The upper ground level is a bit plain though:/ I can image some cobbled stone paths would add a bit more life. Perhaps some more citizens too;)
Great build, though! Best of luck in the MO!
