After seeing this category released during BrickCon, I knew I had to do a pair of Transformers, but they had to be linked together somehow.
So I ended up building a front-loading washing machine with the intention of making a Dyer to go along with it. But alas, work got in the way, and I was only able to pull one off.
So I present, Hyper-Drive, the newest of the Domesticons line-up. Ready to fight crime, and "Clean" the streets of any unsavory types!
Elliott Feldman vs Lego Junkie
Domesticons. Transformers normally take sports cars, jet planes, guns and dinosaurs as their alternate forms. We charge you with designing one of a new range of transformers which disguise themselves as domestic appliances.
The header image was of Hyper-Drive in Domestic mode.
The picture below is of transformed mode.
I would have loved to spend more time on this category, as it could have been really fun. Spending a week of my building time in Seattle really hurt my chances of moving on methinks, but I've enjoyed the MO's so far, and I've got my fingers crossed that I may get lucky and move on to the next round!
Wow, saw this blogged and assumed it was the winner! Sorry to see you out, it's a great build, good bot form and sleek and tidy transformation and alt mode. I'd better check out Elliot's build to see what this lost out to but tough luck.
As a keen transformer builder, I really like what you've done with this one and in spite of Elliott's awesome entry, yours would've got my vote for the more practicable looking robot form. Don't give up on building transformers!
The robot form is so good here. The washing machine a little more functional, but overall a really strong build. I know how hard building Legoformers can be and appreciate the skill and neatness of the fold. Overall I think Elliot's domestic form just edged yours, whilst your bots were both great. On these grounds, sorry, you don't get my vote.
First of all, I must say that I'm deeply impressed by both MOCs, yours and the one from your opponent. I can only imagine how hard it must be to build a transformer. But there can only be one and Elliott's creation impressed me a bit more due to the additional functions. Sorry, but he got my vote.
This is great stuff. I built mine in quite a short amount of time as well (had to pull an all-nighter), but I applaud you for building something as cool as this after a long plane flight, unpacking, etc.! But hey, I bet the airline disassembled all your models for you! :P Good luck!
