Here's Hobbes! This project took a LONG time. I have decided that I won't do another mosaic for a while. I don't really enjoy making them, and it's more important to build what you enjoy rather than what you're good at. A HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to everyone who helped Calvin surpass 100! I appreciate it greatly.
Edit: MOTD - Thanks so much, everyone!
Edit: MOTD again - March 25, 2017. Thanks again, guys!
Wow, congratulations for achieving Moc of the day on such a fantastic and beautiful moc, truly deserving. As a Calvin&Hobbes fan, I can personally say you've done an amazing job capturing Hobbes' attitude, of slightly angered and defensive XD. Amazing work man, happy for ya :).
Man!, this is awesome, it would be like a perfect married couple if you put Hobbes and Calvin together Haha!. And I actually have a question were your hands carved by angels? because you have a lot of explaining to do, how did you become such a expert builder, you should be up there playing with the big boys (if didn't get that I mean with the Lego certified professionals) because you deserve it. If you think that I'm taking this whole praising thing to far let me know because I could seriously go forever.
Very nice! You are becoming a very popular mocer around here, so congratulations on that! You latest MOCs have all been fantastic, and I'm glad to see them getting so much attention. I would love to see a mosaic of Calvin and Hobbes together, mostly because you have done both of them separately. Great job!
Yes, my sister showed me the pixel method. Like, convert to BMP and re-size. I have been thinking about it. I definitely like it, but doing it by eye is WAY WAY WAY more challenging. MY method is this: Proportions. If a certain part of my mosaic doesn't look like the real picture, re-do, re-do re-do, until it's up to my standards. I guess my artistic abilities help with this.
It's rare to look at the thumbnails on the homepage and say "That is -so and so's- moc. I can tell by the style." THIS is Alex Rode's moc. I can tell by the style. You have developed in a short time a fantastic visual acuity for black and white mosaics. Working with graphite myself for decades now -ouch-, I can attest to the difficulty involved in visualizing the outcome. AND THEN, to do it in a distinctive style is phenomenal. Now the trick for you is to break from what is expected and to keep all of us guessing. Truly a great body of work here, Alex. Under NO circumstances ever stop pushing your limits. Continue with these wonderful creations, but understand that ART is about what is next. Wonderful work and I look forward to your process and progress! (sorry about the length of my comment.) ;)
