So yeah, it's been awhile since I've actually built something successful. The last few posts have been old MOCs and TablesCRAPs which are fine and all, but not nearly as cool as getting a new Domo! The last time I built one of these guys, it was a year ago! D:> The HORROR!
So yes, as you can see, the new Domo is Furankenshutain, or as I like to call him, Frankendomo. I'm not sure why I decided to go with Frankenstein's Monster, it just came to me. I knew I wanted to build something and while I forgot about it this year, I do have a neat idea for a Zombie MOC next year. I wanted to keep it traditional of Halloween so Frankenstein came to mind I guess. I tried to base it off of the traditional pop culture icon, but also added in some ideas from Iron Man, Darth Vader, and Victor from Ben 10. Tall forehead, labotonous stitching, green skin, giant boots, the works!
This is the first Domo to simulate regular clothing well. Sentonikku, Jedai, and Slenderdomo have all sported clothing of some sort, but not as well as Frankendomo. He's a robot with a paint scheme of clothes, it's weird. Speaking of which, he's not really a conglomerate of past Domo's although I bet that could have worked, maybe. He's be a but Rainbow Warrior looking, but I'm pleased with what I came up with. More text will be spread throughout the pictures.
Super Fun Posing Time!
I should not that this guy is a pain to pose. As I was building him, he kept falling apart. He still has issues. Part of the reason is because many things are connected by one or two studs all over the place. His claw arm has many parts with limited connection points, his upper body has to balance on the ball joint which is connected to the waist by two jumper plates. His butt plate is connected by SNOT connection which is then attached by two studs, the sides of his thighs are not connected because the two outer pieces cannot connect to the skeleton without being separate resulting in both of those being connected by single studs, and then there are his feet.
The feet have given me the hardest of times. The gray tips are connected to the gray base by one stud and the entire gray section is connected to the black part of the boots by one stud. Every time I tried to change something during initial construction, they would pop off and I'd get really upset. They look fantastic, and I wanted to get the size of the gigantic boots correct first after the head and he can't stand without the feet. Pain in my everywhere is all I can say.
Long story short, he's very fragile and posing him was a challenge.
Kind of an awkward stance. Perhaps he's dancing. For all you know, he could be attempting to dance to the...
You just got punned.
He seems angry.
And he's obviously making you lose balance.
I don't really know where I was going with this pose. He's a little dainty looking.
He seems to be confused by that last picture himself.
In the next picture you see my Mad Scientist Siggy. I've got a nice black lab coat with lots of zippers! I like zippers. I also have goggles to go over my goggles and a nice handy wrench to tighten any loose...
The head even has what is supposed to be a metal plate on the side of his head. Doesn't make much sense, but it works.
The Torso uses a piece from a Spider-Man 2 Set. I don't know why but a friend gave me a 4+ Juniors set and it came with motorcycles. This is somewhat reminiscent of Iron Man and Darth Vader at the same time since this is supposed to be stuff sticking out of his chest.
The boots are insane. He's a nice view of them. By the way, the Insectoids pieces are only there for the lightning detail. There's also one on his left arm where the tazer thing is.
As Seen on YouTube
This is what it took to get photos. Absolutely. Ridiculous.
Definately your best domo. The detailing is very nice and the colors are great too. The part about it being fragile/hard to pose was pretty funny though. At least he isn't way bigger, with plenty of non-connected pieces/partially connected pieces/single stud connections at areas that hold up the entire weight! (yeah, Takutanuva and Scorpio were way too fragile. And half of Takutanuva's joints didn't work without removing pieces.)
Quoting Mister Lego ~
I'd say this is your best Domo. Those boots look awesome. The color scheme also looks really good. I take it he doesn't transform into jet mode..?
I think he's my favorite, too. Maybe it has to do with the use of all the new bracket pieces. I'll have to consult with Brickunion to see if he could get this to transform into Jet Mode. The last few Domos haven't been able to fly anyway, which is interesting.
