I loved the A-team Van as a kid and wanted to build this in Technic Lego.
This one can be played with in manual mode and remote controlled. It has 2 xL motors for driving and a m-motor for steering and a m-motor to switch between manual or RC mode. I only have 2 lights so I used these on the roof.
I know the colors of the Van are different but I do not have enough of the dark grey to make to top parts grey and personally like the overall black look better.
Hope you like this creation...
About this creation
For the front and back axis I used the MPS system that Sheepo created. This A-team Van is about 50 studs long and 22 wide and 25 studs tall (about the same size as the Vampire of Paul or the 8070 supercar). It fake a fake 4 cylinder engine that runs in remote controlled but also when it is played in manual mode.
Below my second attempt...people where telling me that the Van should be higher to get a beter scale. I believe the scale is more correct now....but I also liked the more aggessive look of the first version.
Here some photo's of the inside. Here you can see the switching between manual and RC mode. I made some improvements so the switching works more smoothly.
Pitythefooo that don't like this! Excellent functions. The only thing that would make this better is a cannon that shoots heads of lettuce. XD (C'mon, everyone remembers that episode.) Totally awesome!
Thanks all for the comments...much appreciated..
For the scale...I believe it should also be a little higher. I was struggling with the doors to look nice and also the amount of black parts I have... now it is about zero....
This is CRRRAZY impressive! You had me at the opening shot, but then, wait, the doors OPEN too! Nevermind the fact that it is both RC and playable too! Wow, you've been unequivocally added to one of my fav builders based on this one alone, now I need to peruse your page and see what other marvels you have made...
For functionality you get top score from me. Though the styling is a bit off (for me), it is slightly too low, or too wide, and it is the paintjob that makes me tell what the vehicle is. But because you are a technic builder who builds with technic parts (and I know styling something is difficult in that case), I suppose it is OK.
Awesome job! Plus you created this lovely van when it was almost my birthday! Coincidentally, I also loved watching A-team when I was little. I even watched the 2010 movie of the same name in 2012! Isn't that cool?!
