This is the first thing I made with 31005 after disassembling the main model. All the excavators I've ever seen in person have had treads, which I like more than tires, but all my treads are at home and apparently this is a thing. So! Tires it is. The boom is somewhat articulated, but I was focusing more on making it look good (notice the hydraulic rams).

An action shot from the other side. That little "shelf" sticking out of the cab doesn't really belong there, but I did what I could to make it blend in. It's the end of one of these brackets, which I used to make the pivot. Worth it for the functionality, I think.
I wish I'd taken a better picture of the counterweight. I used one of the wheel wells to smooth out the shape and it worked quite nicely. You can see it best in the main photo.
Though it's small, you were able to put a lot of detail in it, which is remarkable! Also wheeled excavators do exist, even though the tracked ones are better known. Anyway, great job! Hopefully better pics next time...
