This is a build for my Spy Rank. I am collaborating with Gabe French.
On to the story!
Qinon was wearing a heavy armor and a cloak. He did this because the letter he had gotten form a senior outlaw had instructed him to get information from an Enalican that he was to meet. The Enalican knew who he would be meeting, so Qinon was wearing a disguise. In case he met the same man again, he would be wearing something different, which would make him hard to recognize that second time.
Qinon recognized the man he was to meet by his walk. Unlike all the other people he had seen traveling on the road this morning, this man was in no hurry: He walked slowly, deliberately, as if waiting for someone to catch up to him. Silently, Qinon walked over the gravel towards him. Qinon knew that the first impression was everything. If he gave the other man a fright at the first moment he was seen, the other man would be careful around him.
With a practiced move, Qinon chucked the saber he was carrying into the gravel a hair from the man's foot.
The man spun around, his axe raised to ward off an attacker. Qinon raised his hand in a silent greeting.
Seeing Qinon, the other man relaxed. "I'm Mathew" he said. Qinon mustered him. He gave an overall nervous impression.
Qinon nodded and introduced himself.
"I am looking to board an Enalican ship as a hired crew member" Qinon said.
"So I was told" Matthew replied. "And I prepared a letter where it is all said."
Matthew whipped out a letter.
Qinon took it, opened it and started reading.
There are several Enalican ships at dock in Worsan at the time. There is the Red Fire, the Dark Queen and the Amelie. The Dark Queen is looking for another crew member, and will be happy to take anyone who is skilled in battle and able to meet their standards.
These are the following: Orders form the captain, Navigator, and Head of Battle. There is no complaining, no drinking or gambling on board, and absolutely no mutiny. Breaking of any of these rules will lead to you being removed from the ship immediately, no matter if out onto land or into the water.
OK, see Gabe French's build for the rest of the conversation! I will link to it as soon as it is out.
After the conversation was finished, we went our separate ways.
I would never now where Matthew went.
But I headed back to Worsan.
This was a short build, but my first vignette in quite a while. I enjoyed experimenting with a border and a gravel road. I hope you liked it!
