A sleek space racer.
About this creation

I made the Starhawk in Winter 2004. It started off as a small starfighter but I decided that it looked too fancy to be a combat spaceship. The design is another strange blend of different inspirations, mostly "Flash Gordon." I especially think the tail lends a retro-50's aspect to the ship, which is an overall fluff and fantasy craft. The ship features large outboard engines which rotate on the vertical axis, much like the new wing-mounted engines on the Nasal Avenger 3 .

The Starhawk with it's engines in the normal position for forward motion. I built the ship plain white with the intention of capturing a sense of the fluidity of this design. I didn't want to distract the viewer with colors and mechanical details.

A view with the engines at a 45 degree angle.

The engines rotated 90 degrees for take off and landing.

Rear view, showing the lime green exhaust of the engines. Unfortunately, the engine design didn't allow for an effective use of trans bricks for the exhaust so I went with the next best thing.

I thought this side view captured the rocket-like quality of the main fuselage.

The Starhawk sits on a single retractable landing skid, shown extended here.

The landing skid retracted. Note the laser range finder assembly underneath in front (with the trans red tip). This feature is a carry over from when the Starhawk was a starfighter. It actually is just the right amount of brick needed to balance the ship on the landing gear.

Its a very nice design althought it reminds me personally more of a swallow than a hawk. However african or european, I do not know...

This thing is supa-supa' tight. (Bro told me to type that!) Anyway, I like the overall look. It appears as a futuristic flying thing (meaning it'd use some sort of super-efficient airfoil.) The landing gear alone is actually what inspired me to build my Jaguar Heavy interceptor. Actually, it was your Desk Diplsy plane. Thing. I forget. Shutting up.
