So I have been watching a bit of AoT and I thought I'd have a crack at making some of the characters. I honestly gave up trying to make actual characters from the anime, but I still created a few similar-looking figures. The focus here is the 3DMG (3-Dimensional Maneuver Gear)- which was a little daunting to get right. I think I finally got the look I wanted, but it still came at the cost of functionality. It leaves room for imagination I guess :P
About this creation
I'm really terrible at ordering these photos... haha anyway - I'll just add some info between each one:
I experimented with many designs, but I always seemed to make the far too bulky. This is the most compact I could make it to be honest.
I think it looks great it little vignettes and such, but it works best as a simple play-feature/addition to these figs.
I am still not decided on whether a short cape works better than a full-length one or not. I don't really mind either way though.
The characters are sort of failed-replicas-turned-original minifigs haha. I don't really do print customising anymore, and I have never worked with proper decals either.
One day I'd like to make actual character-accurate minifigs, however.
The swords were hard to decide on too. I really like the look of the katanas with this - but they are too long - but I also like how the short-swords work with it.
My design is (as far as I know) unique, so that's a plus. It is also rather simple, which allows me to make many of them which is one of the best aspects. It also doesn't use particularly peculiar pieces.
It is slightly pose-able and fairly stable unless your figures have really stiff joints - pressing all over it is bound to loosen it.
There is enough room for the hands and arms to move into attack/defensive positions, and it also allows for a comforting arm-rest when not in action.
Attack on Titan is actually a pretty good anime imo. I have watched around 30 different anime series, and this one is very exciting :) If you haven't started watching it or reading the manga, I suggest you do!
It's fun to swoosh these guys around, and I even sometimes attach string elements to them for some extra authenticity.
Yep... I'm running out of things to say :P
It's fun to have these guys attack my Bionicles too. Although it's hard to make good-looking titans..
It should be pretty easy to replicate this design too, I hope it helps some people out. Thanks for checking it out too - leave me some feedback or your thoughts if you like too :)
