My entry to the RC. The task was to show your character preparing for winter. My character, Qinon, joined an Enalican band of Raiders recently, and now he helps them prepare for winter... The sea can get very rough during winter, after all. So they need supplies. They are now raiding a coastal Fortification along Mythron's southern coast.
The battle was about to start. In just a few seconds, a Mythronian soldier would meet Hircan, who was heading the charge up the ladder. Qinon prepared himself, ready to launch an arrow the very second that Hircan was up on the cliff...
The raiders were not out for fame and gold when they decided to raid this fortification: They needed supplies. Winter was on it's way, and the seas would be cold and perilous. In attacking this fort, the raiders hope to find clothing to keep them warm and food to keep them alive until their next chance to land on the coast and look for supplies.
Even though the raiders didn't know when they felled the decision to attack, they picked the right fortification. It had lost half of it's men when they were chosen to help invade Rainos, and had only gotten back one of the five. Because of it's far off location, Mythron has not yet gotten to patching it up with more men and gear. So it remains vulnerable...
At the breaking point, the only non-human on the Mythronian side meets the only orc in the charge... Both with weapons taller than a man, both with the will and skills to turn the tides of a skirmish like this...
Up on the fort, the commander watches, while the Archer takes aim. Qinon has already decided that the archer will be one of his first targets.
Between the river and the fort, there is only a small space left to fight in... Whether that is to the attackers or the defenders remains to be seen...
The space is made even smaller by this hatch... But why is this hatch here?
It opens! But what will it reveal? ...
A storage room! The raiders have really made a good decision in attacking here. Along with food and drink, they will also find a whole array of capes and a box of books. Even a Sock is part of the loot.
And inside the Fort, they will find another interesting thing: a whole assortment of axes, spears, swords and crossbows!
I didn't just want to make these walls a boring gray, so I made them Mosaics instead!
The symbol of Enalica, where I am temporarily a member of as long as I am with the raiders (aka, where I am spying on while I still have my Spy Rank).
a fire. Not very symbolic, but I needed to fill space.
The wolf. The Symbol of the Outlaws, the faction I am really in. I am most proud of this one, and it looks really good, in my opinion...
So, I have two removing sections and a hatch, ensuring playability... Not that I needed it. :P I also tested a new style of Rockwork here. It looks better, but is very fragile and a lot of work. If it crashes inward in a project like this... Good luck fixing that. :P Luckily, it did not crash, and as a result, it looks really good! I didn't really put a lot of work into the last two monthly challenges, but in this one, I really tried a lot harder. I also put my foot down on the landscaping color scheme, limiting it to only two grass and two sand colors. The only thing that could have had more work was the fort... But lack of time said otherwise. Again, I hope you enjoyed it!
This is a really great build, and while the techniques could use work, the styling is wonderful. I really don't care if it's realistic or not, you have such a unique style that works so well, IMO. The symbols on the sides are fantastic as well, and the hatch idea is clever. Nice job!
