After a short run across the rooftops of Carthal I found myself at the helm of The Calm Before the Storm. It was at that point I realised I should probably have thought about how to explain to the crew why I was the Captain. "Captain Osia was killed in battle today, fighting for the honour of Enalica. He is to be commended, and remembered fondly. But now is not the time. He has left me as Captain, and right now our crew-mates are being slaughtered by a ship packed with slavers. So I say we sack those bastards, and get ourselves some gold along the way! For Enalica!" As soon as I had finished, the crew took up the cry, all chanting, "For Enalica!" back at me.
As soon as we were in range, I got my first view of the ship we would be attacking. It was unlike anything I'd seen before, or have seen since. The hull was made of wood, but had been painted green. The deck had no form of sail or mast, or any decoration at all. I assumed that the slaves would be below deck. Along the deck itself swarmed a crew of orcs and men, and a group of archers that must've been the ones killing the ground crew. Tofruil, Fayku, and the remainder of the men were hiding in cover on a stone pier that connected the boat to the land.
"Bring us in close!" I ordered, and I slowly brought The Calm alongside the slave ship.
The crew prepared to board, drawing weapons and lining up along the side. Faykyu installed a second Enalican Fire weapon by now, but I didn't use them for fear of killing our own or the slaves.
The second we were close enough, the crew leaped aboard the enemy ship. Seeing the attack begin, Tofruil led the ground forces on a fresh assault, charging up onto the vessel.
I myself jumped from The Calm and engaged a particularly large Orc with two skulls on his head. He wielded a huge war-axe, and he wielded it brutally. It was all I could do to keep away from the iron head in quarters that close.
But eventually I got the upper hand, and sent him overboard with a strong kick.
The battle ended swiftly after that, and Fayku, Tofruil and I met up on the pier. "What will you do now? You have had your revenge. Will you leave us?" I asked Tofruil. "No. I have nowhere else to go, I will happily stay on, if you'll have me." She replied. "Of course, you have earned your place as an Enalican. And you, Fayku?" "I might be old, but I'm still capable of...of...well whatever it is we might need done on a ship." The Dwarf replied with a stern grin. "Y'know, I really never actually viewed you as that old..." Tofruil winked at him. "Oh...well...erm..."
So that's my Enalican Rank Challenge! Not much I know, but still, I'm hoping to make a Guild soon, and I need to rank up to do that, so here we are! Also, no moaning about the Mega Blocks ship, I like it, and it's only really there as a placeholder until I can make my own. --Ess--
