About this creation
My entry for Round 1 of The Tourney.

Guild: The Crimson Knights

-From Peasant to Knight
For years a certain young lad has been dreaming about becoming a knight. Show the young lad (could be your character from when he was in his teens) becoming a knight. If the young lad is not your character, then add your character as some sort of mentor in the lad's life.

Like many a young lad, Neville dreamed of becoming a knight. And so, at a young age he left home, setting off with just the pack on his back and adventure in his heart.

While traveling, he came across an abandoned post, long since used and on the verge of collapsing completely. He was about to continue on when he noticed something strange.

A sword, deposited in a stone. Well, deposited in a barrel on a stone. This couldn't be the sword of legends could it? Neville supposed it was easier to simply call it the sword in the stone, than the sword in the barrel in the stone.

Neville approached, prepared to free the sword from it's resting place, and to begin his life as a knight. Just as he reached out his hand, he heard a voice behind him.
"Yeah, I wouldn't touch that if I were you."

Neville turned quickly, to find a man hanging in a cage.
“You're likely to get some disease off of that. Used to be my sword. Then this drunken lot thought it would be funny for me to hang here and watch it rust in should I say this? Recycled Ale.”
“Who are you?” asked Neville.
“Why, I'm Rombaer Le Rouge. Perhaps you've heard of me.” Neville's vacant face said otherwise. “Then, what's your name? What are you doing about in these woods?”
“My name is Neville. I am traveling to Carthal to find a knight to teach me.”
“A Knight? Why, I'm a knight. Tell you what Neville, you get me out of this cage, and your knightly search is over. I'll teach you everything.”
“You're a knight? If you're a knight, then what are you doing in that cage?”
“Oh, just a simple misunderstanding about a horse. You know, he said it was his. I said I looked better on it.”
“A horse thief!? And you call yourself a knight.” Neville turned to walk away.

“No it's true! If you don't believe me, my armor is over by that table. The key's there too. Just fetch the key and I'll make you a knight.” Rombaer began to fidget with his cuffs desperately.
Neville looked over to see a man sleeping beneath a tree. “What about the guard?”
“Oh, he's so drunk I doubt anything could wake him.”

Neville crept up towards the table, and sure enough the key and armor were there.
“Are you an Archon of the Lion?” Neville asked.
“Not exactly.”
“What do you mean by that? You carry their shield.”
“I sort of borrowed it for the Tourney.” Rombaer continued to try and free himself from his chains.
Neville looked at him in disdain, “You borrow a lot of things, don't you?”
Neville felt a pit in his stomach. Surely this man deserved to hang. But was it really the right of these drunks to dispatch justice?

Neville quickly grabbed the key and returned to Rombaer.
“Here, get yourself out of there. Hurry, before I change my mind.”

“What you think you're doing there boy?” The voice sounded thunderous behind Neville. He turned to find a huge bearded man, with an even bigger axe. Neville froze.

“Wake up you idiot!” The bearded man kicked the drunken man awake.
“Oi, watch it there you head.”
“You're lucky it's me and not Brumbel. He's warned you plenty about drinking on post. You're supposed to be watching him...”

The bearded man pointed to a now empty cage.
“Where'd he go?!!” he growled.

“Up here!” shouted Rombaer. They all looked up to see Rombaer had scaled the spiral stairs to the cage pulley.

Rombaer released the cage and it came crashing down on top of the bearded man.

The drunken man let out a shrill laugh, “Looks like you'll be the one in trouble with Brumbel. And I'll be rewarded for capturing BOTH where's me sword?”

Neville scooped up an empty bottle, and quickly struck the drunken man on the head. Rombaer descended the stairs to retrieve his armor.
“Not bad there, Neville. You just might have what it takes to become a knight after all. I thought your morality would get in the way.”
“You sir, have a warped sense of what it is to be a knight. Morality and chivalry are the basis of knighthood.”

Rombaer inspected his armor and noticed a chest, opening it, he finds all sorts of treasure.
“I think you misunderstand what it is to be a knight,” Rombaer says. “It isn't all chivalry and civic duty and all that. Sometimes, it's just about the thrill.”

“What is the meaning of this!!” A voice raged behind them. “You dare release that scum.” An evil looking man on a quite handsome horse stared at Neville. This must be Brumbel, he thought. Before Neville could react, the man on the horse drew an axe and charged straight for him.

Suddenly, Rombaer pushed Neville out of the way. Rombaer raised his spear toppling Brumbel from his horse. “Quickly,” Rombaer said to Neville. “Get on that other horse. Time to go.”

Neville jumped on the horse and together they fled the abandoned post, Rombaer dragging the treasure chest behind them. Neville laughed as they rode off. He'd never felt such exhilaration. Rombaer smiled at him, “You see Sir Neville...sometimes it's just about the thrill.”

Figless and cageless.

Spiral stairs and water well.

Bonus pics.

Had a lot of fun with this. Hope you like, and good luck to all!

Nice build! I really like the story as well, and you character(s) are quite cool! It would improve it a lot if the pictures were less blurry, though.

I like the ruined/overgrown theme here, but I think that improving the tower a bit by making it look like it could have once been in good condition would have helped with this entry. Some of the leaves seem too scattered in the way that it's not natural looking. However, the story was quite good and there were a bunch of neat details to discover like the spiral staircase, the well, and the cage. Overall solid entry.

The main building is quite good, although I would like to see a little more landscaping. Some better pictures would also really help turn this build from good to great.

Photo quality isn't perfect, but the build is topnotch! The textures and the curve on the tower are especially well-done! As a story-teller myself, I love reading a good writeup, and this story is excellent. Great job!

Quoting Mr.Falcon Punch Nice job, looks great, I like the cage and building. I only have one thing that bugs me, it's little, but the camera quality is a little off. Other than that, this is a superb MOC.
Thanks! Yes, the lighting in my room isn't very good, and I need to use a tripod more.
