TI Intro: Dr. Viktor Devol aka The Effigist
About this creation

Faction: Maruaders

Homeworld: Qoter

Current Location: Desert Section of Etrion

Dr. Viktor Devol was one of Qoterís leading roboticists and the creator of septivalent chromium or Chromium 7 as it quickly coined. The bulk of his research was conducted on Qoterís moon Etrion in an isolated lab. Etrions reputation as a haven for Marauders was well known and security was tight at the facility. However security didnít help once the accident happened. Dr. Devol had resisted the urgings of the GI brass to militarize his discovery, however his assistant wasnít so hasty to pass up a promotion and a lifetime of financial security (plus he would be giving the GI the advantage in the war!). Dr. Devolís assistant ran an unauthorized experiment in the middle of the night. Dr. Devol was awoken by the alarms and as he returned to the lab his assistant activated lockdown protocols. Locked in with the unstable chromium Dr. Devol did his best to stabilize it. The lab exploded. No one could have survived. The installation was abandoned without a search for the doctor. The official report read that due to magnitude of the explosion and the level of genotoxicity present, survival was impossible.

Yet Dr. Devol did survive. A few days later he emerged mutated, weak and alone. Luckily the facility was abandoned so quickly it was nearly intact and he had his run of the place. He tried in vain to remove the sections of his body that had the chromium had bonded to. After a few months he embraced it and began constructing a solid plate of chromium 7. The GI wouldnít be so pleased to see a militarized version of his creation now. Nearly completed with a full suit he ventured to the desert surface. What he saw horrified him. Somehow the unstable chromium had leaked to the surface and killed the entire settlement above. Maybe it was the chromium, maybe he just went a little crazy, but he retreated to his lab and began to create robots. Not just any robots but ones that wore the clothes of the dead settlers. Soon he began to need parts and supplies so he decided to test his effigies by sending them into settlements to acquire needed materials. They grew in number. He began tailoring new clothes to match the settlements fashion. Whispers of the Effigist of the desert circulated.

After just barely repelling a marauder raid Dr. Devol decided it was time to arm his effigies. It wasnít long before they were raiding marauder camps. He spent 3 years training in his chromsuit, he designed a specialized sniper rifle perfect for taking down marauders before they could threatened the facilities. He has since befriended a few humans and began to organize a spy network so that he may locate those responsible for his disfigurement.

A few non robots in Dr. Devol's circle. Commander Corbin Granger (left) and Winston Carnigie (right) more on them to come! =)
