Yes I know Bahnhof is German for station, but there was a brick on Bricklink from the 50's that had it on their and it sounded Medieval so I went with it :P
Big thanks to Instant Noodles for the epic edit on the cover photo!
About this creation
The kingdom of Rhorevia has enjoyed many years of prosperous, hard earned peace under the rule of their High King, Roads are safe to travel on, bandit bands that once roamed
the kingdom have been brought to justice and Rhorevia's boarders are secure; protected by many great fortress cities. These fortress cities deter anyone who would wish to
invade the peaceful kingdom. Their walls are thick, their garrisons well armed and their stores could support a population for many years without emptying.
A dark power has risen in the North. Rumours have spread; that once scattered Orc tribes have united under the leadership of a Black Sorcerer whose evil chaos-magic knows no bounds.
The King ordered that the garrisons of the fortress cities be doubled, all men able to life a sword was to be moved into the cities and that the rest of the population was
to help construct barricades fortify towns and villages.
More months passes and no sign of any Orc attack was seen nor heard.
But then, one cold, dark night, the largest and greatest fortress city burned to the ground. The
surrounding villages and towns heard nothing, they only saw fire lighting up the cold, dark night.
As time passed more cities fell in the dark of the night, with no sign of how the enemy stole into the city and vanished into the darkness....
The King offered a reward to anyone that could discover how the Orcs had entered the fortress cities undetected. But few would accept the assignment as fear of an impending invasion grew in the peoples minds.
Eventually, a group of mercenaries known as The Band of Brothers accepted the Kings assignment and travelled to the largest fortress city that remained standing; Bahnhof.
The Band of Brothers immediately branched out among the people, learning all they could and pooling what they had learned every night in the local tavern.
One night, the leader of the Brothers, a large, dark haired man by the name of Erik, leaned over the table to share his latest discovery...
"I met with an old hag sitting by the west gate this morning who said he could help our investigations. The ragged old man whispered something about an ancient network of Dwarven tunnels...."
Meanwhile, deep below Bahnhof...
The wizard leant over the huge oak desk. Dusty maps and books littered the desk infront of him, covered in ancient writing and symbols. One of these maps depicted the city of Bahnhof and a series of ancient tunnels that linked Bahnhof with its neighbouring fortress city; Scaldar.
The wizard was a high ranking officer in the Orc army lead by the Black Sorcerer. He had lead a legion of Orcs into the dwarf tunnels that lead below each fortress city and in the dead of the night risen from below and burnt the city to the ground, leaving no survivors. And Bahnhof was his next target...
Here we have the combined MOC as it was on the table at Brickvention
Here is part of the city of Bahnhof, little do the citizens know that their city will be invaded from below soon!
A birds eye view of my side of the city, what's that below you ask? Well keep scrolling and see!
And just below we can see some of the catacombs that rest below the city, The Orcs gather here waiting for the perfect time to strike!
Here we see another angle of the diorama
What's all this (my side), (both sides) business? Well Eli build one half of the diorama and I built the other half and they simple come together ... right now ... over me (sorry Beatles reference)
Funny story I live in Perth, Eli lives on the Gold Coast, Brickvention is in Melbourne, so we are on opposite sides of Australia and we built a half half diorama, yeah not easy :P
Here we see the walls to the city, guarded by... decent guards
The Mage's room below the city, a room from the ruins that he has taken over
A local Tavern inside Bahnhof that has the so called "Best Tankard's in the land, but worst Mead in the Land" So make of that what you will!
A local Blacksmith who is known for having a creative mind when it comes to his craft, many come to Bahnhof simply to buy his goods
The Door to Bahnhof is known for being rather small for a main entrance, but it was designed that way to prevent invasions, shame the invasion will not enter that way...
A fountain build to honour the great Knight, Sir Gringaton who is a knight from Childern's tales that is said to have been a descendant from God who brought peace to the land many years ago
The Band of Brother's lead by Erik who are tasked to stop the invasion before it happens. Will the succeed? (*Hint* They do)
Bahnhof's walls were designed to keep out any invasion force or weapon, however it was not designed to combat an invasion from below ... Maybe next time?
A guard who is probably the smartest as he will probably fall in the invasion, so he spends his last day on earth having a good time!
Bahnhof's flags are a loins head on a field of red and white, the colours are symbolic of the joining of two different families to form the new kingship in the now peaceful Kingdom of Rhorevia ... either that or that's the colours Lego wanted for these Royal Knights and I went with it ... But the other story sounds better!
Here we find Henry on duty. Henry enjoys spending his time (when he's not on guard duty) drinking in the local tavern, gambling with friends and trying to pick up ladies, however few of them know of his hobby of collecting childern's dolls
Finally a view of Eli's side!
Here we have a shot of Bahnhof's farm, said to grow the best Pumpkins in the land, despite being the only place growing pumpkins in the land...
A high ranking Knight takes a break from his duties
The home of the owners of the farmstead
Crop's have recently been picked
Will more be grown before the invasion?
See those Chickens?
They had power functions and they moved! Most commented on thing in the whole show :P
I wonder if anyone is actually reading these comments... If you are let me know!
I do enjoy Mindcrack, Bdouble0 and Zisteau are my favourites I watch them every day! I also enjoy Docm77, Etho and GennyB but I don't watch them as much as I do Z and Bdubs. Not saying I don't like the rest of Mindcrack, I love em all! Just they are my tops.
It's two Baj's!
They gonna show you round!
It's two Baj's!
They coming to your town!
One Gets work done!
The other does nothing!
DANG IT! Ran out of words to the song...
But it's two Baj's and they're coming to your Town
To your town
SING IT BAJ!
Sorry I just assumed people would stop reading now
I'll get back to commenting on the pictures
Now this IMO is the best part about Eli's side
Is this freaking great waterfall, LOOK AT IT! Man that's good...
Here the farm owners horses are kept, these stables used to house the guard's horses, but the stables were sold to the farm owner
Here the Mage plans the attack with two Orc generals, where will they strike the city first?
(Answer: I don't know I didn't think that far, YOU DECIDE! ... please?)
All the potions, spells, books, plans for attacking, locations of hidden bases and secret recipes to plum pie's are stored here in the Mage's library
A Younger Orc does not wish to battle so instead he has hidden away with his friend Mr. Cuddlepuff the 3rd King of Snuggleland and they are going on their own adventure!
The Dwarven Ruin below Bahnhof has not yet been discovered by Man, only by the Orc's who were tunneling below to invade the city, they were all very surprised by the discovery!
The Dwarves of Rhorevia have long since died out and only ruins of their civilizations remain
Many of their buildings still house golden artefacts that are rare and very sort after, the Orc's however are too dumb to realise the value in them
Dispite many attempts to grab a fishy snack, his Orc is getting nothing. Maybe he can stay behind during the invasion and try his luck?
A dock recntly built by the Orc's allows for easy transport across the underground pool. There were once bridges connecting everything that were built by the Dwarves, but they have been destroyed in their age
A path to more of the ruins
(Tell no one but it leads nowhere!)
The Orc army marches below and readies themselves for battle!
Here my side sit's back home in Perth
Oh and we don't talk about the condition it was in after it was flown back from Melbourne ...
Oh yeah, Eli and I won Best Under 16 once again :D
Make of that what you will :P
(Well the judge's told us it was really just an award for the teenager builders, so the 'under 16' part doesn't really matter too much)
Fourth Wall Commentary:
Well that's another Brickvention and another Collab with Eli, this one was just as good as the last (Buildwise and convention wise) It was great catching up with the MOCist's from last year and meeting up with new ones too!
Like last year the MOC was two sections, each done by either Eli or Myself, in the pictures above I did indicate which was who's, so take another look if you will ;)
As for the MOC itself it was fun having a deadline on it, as I had to finish earlier than planned as I left for America on holiday a month before Brickvention (I left midnight on Christmas day), so I had a lot of late nights planning and building, but she turned out just how I wanted her to, so all it good :)
IN REGARDS TO BIONICLE MOC'S ONE WILL BE POSTED SOON!
HERE IS A TEASER PICTURE FOR THE MOC I'M WORKING ON ATM!
(ALL CAPS POWERS ACTIVATE!)
Like I said, next post will be that Bionicle above :)
Thanks for viewing folks!
Incredible! Inspiring! And amazing that you were able to coordinate the build from opposite sides of the country. I wanted to make it down from Brisbane to Melbourne for Brickvention - now I REALLY wish I had. Well done both of you.
One last thing...in the mage's library, there is a helmet on a peg on a shelf. I have not seen that particular helmet anywhere before. What is it and where did you get it (I want to be able to get one so I would need to know what it is/where to get it (wow I sound greedy/childish)).
This. Is. Excellent!!!!! I my-self specialize in detail, and this is JAM PACKED WITH DETAIL!!!!! (all caps power active.) My favorite parts are the stalactites in the cave and the Mage's room. All around great work!!
Thanks all! Shh Matthew Fremon Shh (read the description) Shhh. As cool as it sounds Tim I feel 2 is more than enough for a around Australia Collab, it'll just get really complicated if we add more I feel, thanks for the offer though :) Also glad people are reading the commentary too :P
I could look at mocs like this literally all day, but I have things I need to do and I can't afford to procrastinate. Heck I just spent an hour and a half viewing all the details. Basically the word epic doesn't quite grasp the magnitude of its scope. :)
I did read all of the text, and the details it pointed out blew me even further away. It's really big, but, more importantly, every section was beautifully detailed. As I went through it, I kept thinking "This part looks like something Luke Watkins would make... this part looks like something A P would make..." and, as those are my two favorite builders of all time, that's more than I would usually say. I can't wait to see what you do next.
