Here is the last of my Little Bird LDD models: the AH-6. It is built to minifig scale and an adaptation of my earlier MH-6 and OH-6. You can find html building instructions on my Etsy site: www.etsy.com/ca/shop/KurtsMOCs.
About this creation
The AH-6 Little Bird light attack helicopter evolved out of the armed OH-6A Cayuse for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment's 1st Battalion. The current iteration of the AH-6 is now based on the civilian MD530F and known as the AH-6M.
The AH-6 was designed to support the MH-6 transport as it ferried personnel to and from hot zones.
My model is based on the AH-6M Mission Enhanced Little Bird (MELB) used by the US military’s Special Forces. Boeing is now producing their proprietary version of the AH-6 as well.
The civilian MD530F uses a six-blade main rotor and a four-blade tail rotor. The engine is an Allison 250-C30 turboshaft putting our 425 shp.
The AH-6 can cruise at 155 mph with a top speed of 175 mph.
This model has two 7.62mm M134 miniguns, LAU-68D/A seven tube rocket pods, and two AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank guided missiles fitted to the two universal mounts.
This model uses desert camouflage, a change from the normal Little Bird black. The design of the "Killer Egg" is almost fifty years old and still going strong!
Here are my AH-6, MH-6, and OH-6. All in black, of course!
