Category/Quote: “There was a white tree in a courtyard of stone. It was dead. The city was burning.”
Now when Pippin looked through the palantir he saw what Sauron wanted to happen not what would happen . This was the main thought behind my creation. My build shows the White Tree being assaulted by the hordes of darkness, with the faithful few Gondorian soldiers defending it until their last breath (maybe). Will Gondor succumb to Sauron's will, or will light RISE ABOVE? I incorporated a little FUNCTION which might tell....
A few notes: >Sorry about the "teaser" main pic. My real main photo's vertically oriented and Mocpages won't upload any vertical pics for me (I had to copy them from Flickr). :(
>I made my first Bricklink order for this! Now I have 8 of those black pirate sails!
> I know this isn't where the tree is in the movie, but since the tree is the symbol of Gondor, I felt that I could place it "lower" in the city amongst the houses and shops. I also wasn't sure if Sauron's forces ever got to the top of the city (where the tree is) before they were defeated.
>The buildings may seem a little simple, but they are almost exact replicas of buildings seen in the movie (look in the scene when Gandalf's first riding into Minas Tirith and he passes through all the levels on the way to the top).
>Make sure you catch all of the little details. :P
Underneath the battle (lower level interior of the building on the right), a man prepares to rise and fight for his family with his frying pan.... It IS a big frying pan though.
Note: The frying pan somehow got cut out of the picture. *facepalm*
While his build was insanely awesome, it was really quite simple. (Aside the rock-work)
Not that it means much from me, but I just want to let you know I think you shoulda won. (I dunno if it's the same form you, but when I was told that it raised my spirits quite a bit) Great job again Elliot, and I wait for more builds from your ever-skilled hands. :)
This was, without doubt, one of the toughest rounds I've judged so far. Your brilliantly built Nazgul, cave troll, parts usage, and action scene had me really close to casting my vote for you, but in the end, I had to go with Li Li's microscale Minas Tirith partially because of his impressive techniques and partially because of his superb composition. That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you earn the votes of the other judges. Best of luck!
Wow! I love evrything about this build, the nazgul, the tree the architecture, just everything is top notch. But I have to say your troll is by far the best one I have ever seen! Good luck in the competition!
