Ok so I've been working on this one for AWHILE now, but I decided I was finally ready to call him finished. This is Declan Muller's LTC Story rendition of the classic Transformers character, Soundwave. Oh and also his Cassette minions Rumble, Frenzy, Laserbeak, Ratbat, Ravage and Buzzsaw. Hope you like him!
About this creation
SO we begin with a close up shot of Rumble & Frenzy here in their cassette modes, and you can see the Rumble pile-drivers above as well as a pair of "drills" for Frenzy.
Next we have Laserbeak, Ravage and Ratbat in their cassette modes, and you can also see the Rumble/Frenzy back-pack weapons above them.
Now here inside of Soundwave's tape-deck chest, you can see Buzzsaw fits perfectly inside! (So do all the rest of the cassette minions, as they are built with the same dimensions in mind!) (10 studs wide, 6 studs long) Soundwave's chest only fits 1 cassette at a time however.
Now Soundwave is in robot mode, and he is quite posable. The purple detailing on his speakers, arms and tape-deck window is also a homage to his WFC/FOC incarnation, as Declan wished this Soundwave to be more "Cybertronian" rather than an Earth-based Walkman/tape-deck. As such, this Soundwave's alt-mode is a Cybertronian Boombox/Cassette Player.
As you can see here, Soundwave has the option of 1 shoulder cannon for the classic G1 look, or he can have 2 for the more battle-harden style this version is meant to have.
Rumble and Frenzy wearing their gun-weapons as back-packs.
Rumble utilizing his Pile-drivers (which can actually extend/retract as pictured!) and Frenzy wielding his "drills".
Rumble and Frenzy can also hand-hold their back-pack weapons.
Laserbeak, Ratbat and Ravage in their robot modes. I think out of all 6 of the cassettes I built for this set, I think the Laserbeak/Buzzsaw "mold" turned out the best, and Ratbat's "mold" turned out the worst, but I'm still proud of all 6 of them.
While they're not meant to, (as Laserbeak/Buzzsaw fit inside of Soundwave with the weapons attached) Laserbeak/Buzzsaw's weapons can come off, revealing his "mold" has tail detailing!
So I hope you enjoyed this envisioning of Soundwave, and as such this last picture is of my favorite part of this build, DAT FACE. This is probably the part of this build I put the most time into aside from the cassette minions, and I absolutely love how it turned out. DAT FACE!
