Cronopio Dentiacutus commissioned by Bright Bricks - the certified Lego professionals from the UK. It will form part of the Lego Lost World Zoo for Milestones Museum in Basingtstoke, UK. I have built several creatures for the show which I will post over the next few weeks.
The client wanted 10 small extinct creatures to be hidden amongst the Museum’s permanent displays for the visitors to find (similar to a treasure hunt). I had free reign to pick which creatures I wanted to build as long as they were real life creatures. My first thought was Scrat from Ice Age. Unfortunately I soon discovered that Scrat was not based on a real creature, however since the film was made evidence has been discovered in Argentina that during the Late Cretaceous period a saber toothed mammal very similar to Scrat did exist.
Credit for the tail design goes to Family Vuurzoon’s fantastic Red Squirrel
Hi Joe, are you doing well? I can imagine three kids is a whole lot of work ('cause I've tree myself :-) ) , but hey, you get three times the love. It has been a while , but I'm almost getting to building again. I have a marvelous idea, but maybe I do the Mehari in real first. Don't know yet... Many greetings, Hope to hear you soon!
Fantastic work MortalSwordsman! The tail is just eye candy! I love it! His body shaping is very well done, you have a certain style in making animal bodies that is instantly recognizable! Well done sir!
