Halhi 141 vs. Toa Infernum
- Ye mighty Sailor!
Enalicans aren't the only ones who know how to build ships! Build one of your faction's ships and set it in a peaceful setting, or in a battle setting against a rival ship. Of course, landscaping on the sides is, of course, allowed (as are castles next to the water and such), so be creative when building your scene. Be sure to focus most of your attention on the ship itself. Think of it this way, from the thumbnail, people should be able to tell that the MOC is mainly about the ship, and not the scene accompanying it.
The captain! I like the rail, and the steering wheel can be turned!
Another function: Turn the knob in the middle of the deck and the anchors lower!
They dragon! This guy looks so cool on his stand… which has disappeared for some reason…? It wasn’t editing, the photo just came like that. I guess my lamps were too bright.
I really like the wings. They were a pain to build though. ;)
I love this dragon!
The dragon is fully posable! :) Mixels joints work REALLY well for dragons!
This might be my favorite build yet! I love how it came out! The Rainosian ship is massive, and I love how the base came out. The big mast can be turned, the rudder can turn, the anchors can be pulled up/down, and the steering wheel moves. I also love the SNOT for the deck and hull. :)
The dragon took about as much time as the ship, but he looks so cool! I love that he’s posable, he looks just like I hoped he would.
Thanks for viewing, and good luck to Halhi, may the best Gnome win! Good luck to all the other MA competitors too! :D
You get my vote! Congratulations! If this challenge was about the dragon or the town, Halhi would have had a better chance of winning, but, according to my interpretation, the ship comes first... specifically, this one. Both had some issues, but Halhi's had more despite its smaller size. Yours is a big, lumbering tub with some awkward shaping here and there (I can only assume that those catapult pieces at the front are playing an essential structural role), but its splintered siding and superior shaping win it the day. I've been trying to figure out how you staggered those planks on the sides, but all of my ideas are very complicated and border on impractical. A few other notes - it would be nice to see a hatch to the inside of the ship (on both entries), and those curved armor-plate parts look kind of strange sloping up to the poop deck. Overall, though, this was a fantastic entry.
Wow, this has been seriously the hardest round to judge so far. To tell you the truth, I've been avoiding it because I knew I'd have to make a decision. Even though, Halhi's building were incredible, I'm gonna give my vote to you because your ship edged his out by just a bit.
This is by far the toughest matchup I have ever had to judge. Both of your builds are so well done, and it's a shame that have to pick only one. No matter what the outcome both of you should be very proud of yourselves for how great you have done in this tournament, and in this round in particular. You both really stepped up to the plate for this round, and built some of the best MOCs that I have ever seen from either of you. Now for my decision. I went back and forth between the two builds for an extremely long time, however in the end my vote goes to Toa Infernum by a small margarine. Although I like Halhi's town slightly more than Infernum's dragon, Infernum's boat is exactly how I would picture a Rainosian boat, and I really like the water technic that he used. To be honest Halhi's boat just seems a bit too plain to me. If the category had been a free for all my vote may have gone the other way, but as it is Toa Infernum wins my vote as the boat portion of each of your builds carries more weight. Good luck with the other judges!
I'll start of by saying that you both put up amazing entries! Your boat here is fantastic! Though I would have wanted to have seen some more pictures of the ship deck and some other views of the dragon. Nevertheless, excellent work on this scene! As I have to choose one, I've (finally) decided, and I cast my vote to your opponent. My reasons being is that he built a number of interesting things and added it to his entry showing the range of skill in the various aspects of his build, all done with excellent quality. But this was close, I had to step back for a few days before I could ultimately decide between the two. Had I taken Halhi's boat as the main weight of his entry you would have had my vote. However, his entire town scene plus the nice boat won me over your excellent boat and nice dragon. Good luck with the remaining judges. ~FNJ
Hi Toa. Well, this was a very difficult decision. Both your and Halhi's entries were fantastic. I like your ship design better than his, but his use of parts, detailing, and sail design was able to impress me a tad more than yours. It also helped his score that he had built a town setting for a background. In the end, my vote goes to him. Awesome work though, and good luck with the other judges!
That dragon looks epic. Though it kind of seems like an extra thing compared to that boat. xD I love everything. The curves were captured nicely with those tiles on the side. And the mast, hull, bow, etc, are perfect. Nice work, and I really think Halhi's going down in this round. No offense, Halhi. :P
Your build here is excellent the dragon and the ship both look fantastic. My only complaint would be the lack of actual dragon training. If you had found a way to incorporate more of the training aspect that the category asked for you would have got a 5. Score: 4
You sir, should be proud! You've managed to whip out an extremely high-caliber entry and very quickly. The dragon is fantastic, I love the use of that bush for his tail. Stellar job on the ship as well. The SNOT techniques are awesome. Keep it up! :)
Excellent work here, Toa! Your ship is truly fantastic, as is your dragon. Great NPU with the tail, wings look great. The texturing and shaping of the boat overall is excellent. Your water technique is original, and I think it captures the look of a foamy sea pretty well. This is going to be a close match!
