Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the "Komatsu PC5500 Super Shovel".
These huge Excavators are used in open mines to load the giant dump trucks.
This is by far the largest MOC I have built.
This MOC features twin 12 cylinder turbo charged engines along with the detailed main hydraulic valve system in the engine bay, a face shovel with opening bucket and static hydraulic rams.
I have used the new Technic tread links (which are pretty close to the scaled size) The rams are static. I toyed with the idea of using the Pneumatic rams but they didn't look as good, as I was going for realism rather than function.
The actual excavator has (x2) Komatsu 12 cylinder turbo charged diesel engines producing 1260BHP each, it has a top speed of 2.2kph (1.4Mph) It weights in at 540 tons, has a maximum scoop of 28 cubic meters and 44.8 tons. From the ground to the roof of the cabin it is 8.6 Meters (28'3") high and 7.9 Meters (26'1") wide
Your model is ace its nice to see a realistic and detailed large mining machine like this komatsu mining shovel i can see you have the mining equipment Bug like me Keep the great work going I look forward to you building a PC8000 that would be great. I like the way you have tackled the clam shell bucket issue I have built a PC3000 which i am finishing and also a DEMAG H485S and i have used a different method for the bucket as well as the hydraulics. I will be posting them soon so please have a look. Keep building and building
