LOM UC: The Decision
This is for the Lands of Mythron April Universal Challenge. The story takes place near Larpang. Special thanks to Freeling++ for letting me use Rohan Rokatai in my story.
About this creation

Cedric and Alator walked up the steps to Kanen who awaited their arrival.

“How go things in Elpis?” Kanen asked with urgency.

“Elpis?” Alator answered in frustration. “Elpis is overrun with Outlaws and retreating Rainosian forces. Fie, things do not go well.”

“Sir, why have you sent for us?” Cedric asked. Kanen eyed him and took a deep breath before beginning.

“I sent for you because someone wanted to meet with you.” Kanen said.

Alator crossed his arms. “You took us away from our scouting mission in Elpis so that we could meet someone, sir?.” Alator said in disgust.

“My lord could…“ Cedric was interrupted by someone coming up the steps.

The man was dressed in black. His cloak flowed from his shoulders as if it was a river of darkness. His face and head were the most startling. Half of it was covered in a dark mask. His hair was grey and sprouted from his head in odd directions. Three people, could they be called people, walked behind him. They too were dressed in black, their hoods drawn over their heads. Where their faces should have been, there was only a silver piece of metal which hid them from sight.

“Cedric, Alator, meet Rohan Rokatai, one of the leaders of the Black Lotus.”

Hearing this, Cedric and Alator drew their swords, pointing them at Rohan. The creatures behind Rohan lunged forward but were stopped by a wave of Rohan’s hand.

“Put the swords away.” He commanded. “I have come to talk not fight.”

“You killed our king, you filthy Narslog!” Alator raised his sword higher.

Cedric stood his ground. Angered and confused he said nothing but studied the man. He had a look about him, almost as if he was bored with things. But there was a commanding air about him, as if everthing would stop and listen when he spoke.

“I did not kill him.” Rohan said.

“One of your men did, an assassin. He hid in a suit of armor, slit his throat, killing him in cold blood.” Cedric replied angered. Rohan stepped closer. His eyes darting back and forth from Cedric to Alator as if contemplating his next move.

“My man may have killed him, but if he had not, many more would have died. Many more would have lost their lives in this endless conflict that ravages our land.” Rohan said with a sad tone.

Kanen stepped forward. “Yes many would have died. Many things are changing in the lands. The king is dead, his brother will take his place, but do we want to start again. How do we know that things will be different? We know that the kings were flawed in many respects. Mythros was power hungery and his son was corrupt. What if Sadon will be like his father and brother? Will we stand by and …”

Kanen was interrupted by a shout from Alator. Alator brought his sword to Kanen’s throat.

“How dare you speak against the royal blood line! I will kill you if you speak against our kings again, even if you are a lord!” Alator shouted. Alator’s breath was heavy. His forehead creased in anger. Kanen pulled back, his hands in the air, his lips trembling.

“Enough!” Rohan shouted.

His hands shot out from his sides, his fingers curled. He raised his arms in the air, and then pulled down. Cedric and Alator’s swords flung from their hands. They clattered to the ground. Cedric and Alator stepped back. Kanen quickly ran to Rohan’s side while this happened.

“I did not come all this way to start a war between us, I came to talk.” Rohan said in exasperation.

“Then speak.” Cedric said.

“I have come for you Cedric because I need you in our ranks. I know the doubts you have in your mind about everything, about your king, about who you are, and about where you came from. I have the answers. If you join the Black Lotus all will become clear. You have been under the watch of the Black Lotus. You were born to be one of us.” Rohan said.

Cedric was confused. How did he know his innermost secrets? He had never told anyone of his feelings, not even to his Uncle or his close friend. Was what he said true…? No, Cedric thought. I am a loyal Mythronian. I will never betray my land. Even if I never get the answers I have searched for.

“Will you join us?” Rohan asked. Cedric took a breath.

“No, I will never join your ranks.” Cedric said with confidence. Rohan’s eyes narrowed. Kanen walked over to Cedric grabbing his arm.

“Follow me, Cedric.” He said glaring at Cedric. Cedric slowly followed him.

“What is it…” Before Cedric good get his answer, Kanen grabbed him, threw him against the pillar, pulled a knife from his sleeve, and put it against Cedric’s throat.

“Listen you halfwit, I was told to get you here so that you could join our ranks. If you haven’t noticed I am a Black Lotus and I have my duty.” He said with gritted teeth.

Cedric whinced as the knife dug deeper into his throat. Kanen continued.

“Rohan wants you, which means you’re special, and if you’re special you’re important. I don’t know why he cares so much, just to have you, but he does.” Kanen put his face closer to Cedric’s.

“Join the Black Lotus. If you do not, your scouting party in Elpis will be given into the hands of the Outlaws and Rainosians. Got it?” Kanen snarled.

“What if I just kill you? Then I won’t have to join your bleeding ranks.” Cedric said. Kanen laughed.

“You could, but if I die, those you care for die. Join.” Cedric stared into Kanen’s cold, heartless eyes. There was no choice.

“All right, I will join.” Cedric said. Kanen let go of him and pulled the knife away. Cedric grabbed the collar of Kanen’s jacket.

“I will kill you someday.” Cedric said with hatred in his voice. Kanen smilled.

“Then your Uncle will go with me.” Kanen said with a smirk.

They walked back to where Rohan and Atator were waiting.

Rohan looked at Cedric with anticipation. Cedric walked past Alator who had a confused and worried look on his face. Cedric picked up his sword. The creatures who guarded Rohan tensed. Cedric held the sword up, then, knelt before Rohan.

“I give my allegiance to the Black Lotus.” Cedric said with a shaky voice. Rohan’s eyes gleamed. He took the sword from Cedric.

Alator stumbled backwards in shock.

“You traitor, you no good son of a coward!” Alator turned and stormed away. “I will not stand for this any longer, this treachery!” He shouted as he walked off.

“Rohan stop him!” Kanen started to run after Alator.

“Leave him. He will spread the word that even Mythronians are abandoning their kingdom and joining us.” Rohan said. He turned to Cedric.

“Welcome to the Black Lotus, brother.” Rohan said.

That is the story. I hope you liked it. Here are some pictures of the build.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Nice job! The layout/design is quite good, as is the story. I do think the color distribution of the steps is a little chaotic, though; either dark grey with lighter bits or light grey with dark bits would look good - but not half dark and have light spread about in that fashion, as you don't know what the primary color is supposed to be. Apart from that, though, great work!
