100 Piece Brick Built Figure Contest - Voodoo warrior Priest
My first design using the mixel joints.
About this creation

100 Piece Brick Built Figure Contest

PARTS LIST

FINAL VERSION

All parts in colours available in retail sets.

Exactly 100 pieces

Please note that the head dress includes the Banana which is one of the mystery pieces.

Voodoo is technically a reinvention of my TIKI idea.

The design makes use of a few new pieces added to LDD with the most recent update. In particular the MIXEL ball joints, and the insect leg pieces I used here for the horns on the staff head.

I had considered doing a design that was based on a notable character, but as the rules didn't insist on this I changed my mind.

As always this is a straight doodle, no plan and no end objective. What you see was as much a surprise to me as anyone.

Thanks to ball joints at the neck, shoulder, wrist, waist, hip, knee AND ankle, he is able to hold lots of poses. But to retain vaguely human proportions, there are no elbows. My next new frame no doubt will try to address this.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOW IMAGES ARE THE PROTOTYPE CREATED USING THE "EXTENDED" THEME. BECAUSE SOME OF THESE PARTS WERE IN COLOURS THAT ARE NOT READILY AVAILABLE IN OFFICIAL SETS THEREFORE I HAVE ALTERED THEM IN THE FINAL VERSION ABOVE.

better images and parts count proof to follow....

Reading through the rules I need to double check a few things here before commmitting myself to THE FINAL VERSION.

firstly, this is done using the expanded theme in LDD which often permits parts not readily availble. Easily fixed, I will import the modle into the basic theme and change the colours to those available. If it means I need to change or loose some parts, tough.

Secondly, i have seen some opportunities in this design to add some of the bonus pieces whoch are not currently included.

NEXT

I'm not committing myself as I tend to be at the mercy of work when it comes to mocing this year. But I am still keen to try and finish my RideSuit idea and the new joints will certainly help with a few things. I am also keen to see if ball joints will make my LeGobot Leader One any more achievable.

Nice articulations and great work on the headdress and staff, all showing off your intimate knowledge of LDD. The character has voodoo spirit; for me you need more of a face to score higher in the character capture though.

I love this little guy. The best part is that I like both versions equally, a sign of a good design. The headdress really pops with either version and he reminds me of the little witchdoctors of the tribes on Mata Nui. Completely playable and you captured the character well. Very interesting part usage and one Mystery Piece. I think the only thing lacking is a substantial presence of the character. As a head honcho in the tribe, I almost want to see more flamboyancy. However, his stance and build demand respect. That and he carries a big stick. ;) Excellent!

He looks good, and he's impressively poseable for his size. Good luck!

Quoting Tim C Nce work, Andros. I love the headdress and the shoulder guards. I also like the added bulk to the lower legs. Best of luck in the contest.
Thanks. This original wasn't going to be my contest entry. Just a generic experiment in using the new mixel joints, but in the end I figured, why not...

Quoting MortalSwordsman . You finally get your 'hands' on the nwq mixel joints :). Love the head dress
Yeah but it's been a mixed blessing. New parts mean new building techniques, which means re-thinking my building process. I've scrapped a lot of designs this week because they just would never work. Sigh, like they say, be careful what you wish for...

Mr. Tempest, I see that you are the only digital builder to offer the viewer an actual visual part count pic. Well done. I have to say, I think this little guy looks better in the regular white. Excellent build, first one out of the gate, you set the pace with this one. Good job. Attack!

Thanks Mr R. I've come unstuck in the past not reading the rules thoroughly so I double checked all the basics before adding it to the comp. i had a change of heart when i saw the design in white, fits the concept slightly better than (my usual) gold.
