After years of constantly building battleships I have finally managed to know what they should look like. As I like to "tune" all my creations to be better and better, I have chosen my best ones to dedicate most of my energy to them. In LDD it is Siaron, in ABS it is Telcontar. This ship is fourt reincarnation of original battleship that was about half of both length and width. It has about 120 studs and it is 98 centimeters long. Originally I planned to only modify previous ships superstructure, but I have recently obtained much very sturdy bricks to allow me to do very resistant ship. You will see that it is all composed of big, specialized bricks that comes from space sets. Ship is very heavy, but it is so strong that i can hold it in very ends of it and it not even crack, and when my father let it crash on floor, hull and superstructure endured even that. Ships design is somewhat less detailed (as most of my little pieces have come to Athsetrion), but I hope to upgrade it when more LEGO pieces will come.
About this creation
You can find many similiarities with repvious Telcontar, so I decided not to take interior pictures. I concentrated on things that are different.
Morph note - saucer battlements : Despite my disgust for fatships, I ordered all saucer pieces I could obtain in Slovakia, because I knew they made excellent wings. I decided to put them on the superstructure between hull wigs, so they could resemble a dragon with two levels of wings. Most of them have some kind of roof with narrow slit that can serve as loophole for crew members that can shoot on enemy flying nearby. They can be accessed from towers.
Morhp note - ventral cannon towers : They were always missing in previous versions, so I added them to boost ships defence abalities when enemy would aproach from below. Most of enemy ships do not want to go there, as towers are fully rotable.
Morph note – hull wings : Ship has less series of wings than previous ship, but I have built them more wide and massive. First level come from hull itself and is comosed from „Explorien“ – like compounds as split-level plates , reversed figure-mounted pieces and finally – my most favorite long sleek cockpits. These wings are fully deattachable and are armedd with anti-ship dark trans green cannon and anti-infantry trans neon green laser. These ships are very sturdy, due to limited amount of lesser bricks on them. I was very happy when I managed to obtain so many Explorien parts .
Hull wings are attached very firmy both from below and above, making them very strong and resilient.
I used wardrobe to catch some detail of inferior parts of ship.
Plane-like front is still used, but I hope to find better central motive some day later ... I know it is not so convenient to futuristic ship, but it is so sturdy that enables me to carry this ship by holding it and tail parts. Due to so many wings, I could not hold this ship normally by center parts.
There are five pairs of hull wings / ships , each attached to one ship segment, but the least one does not have them, as firs tower has double pair.
I used white-ish blanket for more contrast.
Lateral view of ship.
Hull wing detail. You can see a crew member here, he can comfortably sit there with all his robes and even with helmet. Those cockpit holders were disigned very well . Some of wings have heavier cannon tower like this one.
EMP cannons. They are marked by trans violet cones and make enemy computers crash. Litttle trans neon green disks were on this position even in original sets, and I think they could be some source of shielding for a ship.
Fifth tower detail. You can see propeling engines there.
I was no table to get enough top saucer parts to cover all lower ones, so I tried to cover it by another fin-like elements.
Great wall elements were ideal for constructing dorsal fins. They also hand some protections for soldiers on battlements.
Main cockpit detail. You can see shogun Taira here.
Idea note – „learnable“ weaponry and shields : Void ray weapons. They are very destructive, and since they are used in frontal attacks, they are kept on anterior ship parts. Below them you can see two flower-like elements with semi-arch leaves. They are special feature that collects information from enemy energy shots and about their shields. Inside black hemiphere, there is a vault with surplus crystals that can hold ship „Phantoms“ in. Shot from enemy – as well as their shield refelxtion – is collected by hemisphere to provide informations about it. Then i tis transferred to crystals so Phantoms can learn about enemy technology and analyze it. After long perior of time, crystals that learned about enemy are installed in ships computers to help ship to react properly on each enemy shot.
Idea note - asymetrical wing arrangement : when using so much of wings, you need to arrange them properly to prevent your ship from looking too fuzzy. It is great when you can ditinguish them by colour or shape. Here , ship is arranged to thorax and and tail idea : in frontal region with additional trunks, three pairs of wings arise – two from lateral trunks with Explorien-like plates and cocpits and one plane- like. On original Telcontar, this plate was the key for ships static issues, but I replacced it with castle-like basic plates joined toghether by beams. Three pairs of wings aare to resemble seraphs- six winged angels from bible. Rest of tail wings are in three levels, but quite lesser than thoracic wings to help make design more sleek.
Ship has five towers and it is the longest one I built so far.
Idea note – protected energy vaults – Between towers and wings, there is a space on hulls dosral site to deposit some goods. In Telocentar, there are crystal vaults attached to ships „spine“, which is series of bricks that holds it together and serves as main informational canal. Since this, there are vaults that collect information of ships experience. When ship is about to explode during fatal damage, these vaults are teleported on nearby space or planet, or – when being in fleet – to nearest ship. Then it can tell all about ships story and can be used as template to build ship again. VAults are marked with trans blue bricks, as this colour typical for atritian crystal desingns.
Shot collector detail.
Apries in his chair.
Corpus delicti ... now you can see my father holding the ship while I was trying to take some photos from it. By holding it by just one hand, he made ship stand on it fins areas, which caused them to collapse under its own weight. I was much angry back then, but I was able to repair ship with minimal effort. To my relief, even superstructur was sturdy enough to endure, I just had to repair top cannons and some of battlements. In later pics, you can actually see some pieces fallen of below the ship.By the waym ships structure is most clear from below, asi t has no wings in ventral parts. Ship has very sturdy design based two layers of big plates, that had become thre roof and floor of ships hull. Between them there was corner concave wall elements and internodia from regular bricks.
Idea note – protected shield emitters : They are made from trans neon green semi-arch wall elements. On previous ship the were put on peripheral positions to better cover vulnerable parts of ships framework. Now, they were moved between main hull wall and lateral ship modules (hull wings). Aside form better protection, they can also work as a airlocks, as shields can hold even air from leaking out.
Lateral trunk detail. Originally, alteral hulls were the weakest parts of Telcontar due to their lack of beaming and lack of frima ttachemnt to main hull. All that has led me to use big castle floor elements as wigns and roof of lateral hulls. You can see ends of vertical beams that compress lateral hulls floor to its roof. Additionally, they are joined by firm bows from main hull.
Ventral cannon tower.
Idea note : nodal floor strucutre. I made main hull from series of alternating segments. First kind was box-like one made from castle floor elements and concave- semi arch corner wall elements to form lateral wall. That was the stronger element, which also bore towers and hull wings. All structure was compressed together with vertical beams. Another one element was cylindrical, made from plane-like roof and floor connected be ordinary brick piecese. It was the more deliccate parts , holding only drones. Both elements were multiplicitely joined by bricks and plates to hold together.
There are some Wheels to help ship to land. Though not fancy-ones, they are the only ones that I found in greater nubmers in my LEGO collection.
Lateral hull wing detail : You can acutally see that I used Explorien parts to hold ships weaponry. An astronaut can shoot aither from very acccutrate anti-infantry cannon made from trans neon green antenna or with devastating trans dark green ant-ship cannon. Both weapons are fully rotable and deattachable.
Last tower element lacks lateral wings, but I hope I will get more pieces to make it once.
Oh man, sorry that I have this ship previously overlooked. Was probably in the contest .... This ship is inspiring to me as my just for you. At first glance it looks a bit chaotic only when one takes time to study everything, it is very cool. Your style. The details here are very impressive. Great Job
