This is the Blacktron Locust, a lsightly modified re-skin of the 70700 Space Swarmer. Aside from the obvious color differences, the BT Locust features an extra pair of wings, legs, and mandibles.
About this creation
When the swarms of the Galaga first appeared in LEGO space, the Blacktron were quick to capture and study one of the biomechanical insectoids to figure out a way to exploit it for there own use.
Blacktron engineers developed a ship that emulated not only the shape of a Galaga drone, but also the electromagnetic and chemical aerosol pheromones of the swarm, allowing a BT Locust to fly undetected with the Galaga and gather data on their attack patterns, strengths, and weaknesses.
Additionally, each Locust is equipped with a Dark Energy Modulaor (DEW) which enables the ship to emit a cloaking field, making the Locust a valuable all-purpose spy ship.
I didn't get a good picture of the DEM, but it's simply some black plates with some 1x1 trans-red plates in between. Not especially exciting to look at.
After extensive analysis, Blacktron engineers developed the reverse-colored Locust Prime, a ship that could manipulate Galaga drones by simulating the pheromones mentioned above, and in some cases the Locust Prime can take control of an entire Galaga Swarm (believe it or not I created this MOC before I ran across Nick Barrett's Yellowtron Prospecting Team; I have occasionally used reverse-colored Blactron stuff to signify high rank or especially deadly ships).
Here's a pretty crappy picture of the "original modified" 70700 Space Swarmer. It's got extra pairs of stuff like the Locust, but even without them, this little ship remains one of my favorite sets from 2013. To me the colors say "organic, poisonous/deadly, and kinda gross," perfect for insectoid space villains- I have not seen many MOCs using this color scheme, but check out "alien flower" by the Mighty Zog for one example. Thanks for checking out my MOC!
